is this a good idea for an all motor setup? may-b adding a 75 shot…but i kno the gears are shorter and i assume that is a good thing runnin all motor?
ya a search would have given u the answer that i am gonna give u and that is a yes. its got same gearing as usdm type r.
its the best mod. u could do to an ls motor, if your going allmotor!
I had done this on a previous car. and I loved it short gears.
i have a pretty well modded b18 in a std. ef hatch with a jdm s1 and i must say its an awesome trans but if your going to spray i think you might actually be better off with a regular teg trans… first is pointless for me and i haven’t sprayed yet and in all honesty i haven’t found a good jdm trans yet. maybe its my luck. the one in my car now, you know 30k miles :bs: wont go into third and when it does go in third it likes to not go into fourth. all motor i put down 162 (dyno is prolly a lil high) but if you spray a 75 you should be above that on a stock motor for sure. also its just wrong doing 35 in 5th
Which B16A tranny are you planning on putting on your B18A? The 88-90 JDM B16A trannys (Y1, S1, J1) have a 4.266 final drive gear. The 91-92 JDM B16A trannys are almost identical to the 4.400 final drive equipped 96-97 JDM ITR trannys. I have a YS1 tranny that came with my JDM 92 B16A and at 4250 RPM I am at 120 km/h (75 mph). The 4.266 FD tranny might be better for your car, but just realize that with either tranny you will be exposing your B18A to mich higher piston speeds than it was made for. At 90 mph you will be near redline. Just FYI.
