Ok I searched and couldnt find the answer I am looking for. I am planning on installing a b16A in my 90 GS maybe?? The question is this, I heard I SHOULD change my transmission- I need to know why- and be descriptive cuz my buddy is gonna help me and he is a total motorhead so it wont confuse him. Please tell me why I need a transmission for a B16A instead of my stock b18A???
B18A has taller gearing.

You want a tranny that has short gearing so that you can stay in vtec when shifting…which is pretty important, especially since you lose some of that umph from what you had from the B18a (torque).
B16 N/A+LS tranny= why even do a swap for. You need a S1 , YSI or a short geared tranny. The B16 with the LS tranny will suck ass you’ll get spanked bad by normal G2’s.
The correct tranny for the 90-91 Integras would be a S1 or Y1. They are both short geared. You can use the YS1 tranny with a first generation B16A But you will meed to use a 92-93 Clutch as the splines are different than the 90-91 tranny.
The short gears are for the Vtec so you don’t bog down between shifts. The only down fall with the short geared trannys is your motor will rev high in 5th gear. If you do alot of highway driving you might want to look into installing an LS 5th gear (90-91 USDM 5th Gear set) into the S1 or Y1. I did it on my Y1 tranny and it is awsome. Email me if you are interested in the P/N’s for the LS 5th gear set, or do a search. I posted them along time ago and Dan posted the P/N’s for the G3 LS 5th gear set (same post).
