LS trans on B16 sucks… period. LS trans sucks on ANY motor… period.
End of story… stop arguing about it. Who cares. B16 tranny is the closest geared shortest ratio tranny you can get besides the ITR. And, the gearing is the same… just a different final drive.
B16 in a heavy ass Integra Body isn’t the best motor to even go with anyway… running an LS tranny only maked it Slower. My B18A in my 91 RS does me just fine, and thats with hte shitty LS tranny.
Best time so far has been a 15.43@88.00Mph with a 2.232 60’. Stock everything except muffler delete. Full weight too. Let me put a B16 tranny on my car and watch me drop a Couple tenths off. It’s gaurunteed
what are you talking about, how can the LS take more “beatings.” If anything the b16 tranny recieves more stress due to the high revs. If you didn’t know most b16’s and Ls tranny’s have the same casing which is ys1, so technically they should last the same. Next time think before you speak
honda gears are all made of the same material, so i am still a little confused as to what the ls gears have that no other tranny’s have. If the ls tranny was stronger, most people who race would be using it, but if you look around they don’t. The only people using ls tranny’s on high hp motors, are boosted cars with 300+whp. Either way this has no correlation to the strength of gears, they use it because of the advantage of longer gears. The gears are all the same, the only difference is their size. The casing is the same as well. So please explain how the ls gears are stronger. have proof to back it up as well, such as a well known site, or a honda article, saying that they created the ls gears stronger than any other gears. :giggle:
First off the gears are not what gets ruined when shifting at high rpms, what gets damaged are the synchros. Unless you are an idiot and are running the tranny without any motor/tranny oil, but thats a different story.
Secondly, from my own experience, an LS tranny on a b16 sucks balls the gears are wayyyyy to long. The B16 tranny will always work better on both an LS and B16 engine and again that is from experience once again.
Next, I’ve raced LS’s with LS trannies and have beat them with a b16 engine and LS tranny. So vtec makes a world of difference, just ask around. (Please don’t forget that the only reason LS’s have a chance against B16’s is because of the .2 more liters of gas.) They make a difference, look at the torque differences.
Lastly, 90-91 trannies are the worst trannies ever made, dont matter if they are LS or B16, they suck. Why do you think they changed over to a big spline on trannies starting from 92 all the way to 01. Drive an integra with a ys1 and it will shift like a knife through butter.
ls trans. are way better for high way n b16 for drag cuz of longer gear ratios… but w/e my boy got his car tuned up for high way wit a ls transmission on a 97 hatchy n he ran a 14.1 wit regular tires… their not that bad but wit a b16 transmission he’ll run high 13’s all day n tuning the car for drag will help him even more n street slicks which hejust got… if u wanna run better time for drag go wit the b16… if u wanna do more than just drag like high way race or w/e ne transmission is good… just put lsd on it fuck it 90% of the real close races are won on the take off so do wat u feel…
my shit still runnin pretty strong i got a b20b4 though so my shit is pretty good i can get high 14’s n i havent done nothing to the motor so im doing good… i still have a question now… does a 92 ls ecu have a gov. chip cuz i just hit 135mph like nothing i though it woulda slow down after 125???and i coulda kept going…
