b17 or b18c

want to buy a new engine and start a all motor build to make at least 200 hp what would be the best choice im realy new to this so i need all the help i can get thanks

go with the type r, thats what i did, it really fun to drive

If you’re building the motor, then a b17a and b18c-r will be exactly the same except one will be larger, thus making it easier to make your goal. I just barely touched 200hp (on a Dynapack at Church Automotive) with my very mild b17a build, so it’s definitely possible to make 200hp with either motor, it’ll just be easier with a b18c and all else the same you’ll make more power with the same basic mods.

I love the blacksheep B17A. It’s a great motor and to build one proper is rare and very unique. With that being said, I like the extra displacement of the B18C and the reason Honda went with it for the Integra Type R.

Hey Dan, this is off topic, but have you ever used an oil analysis company?

I would say go with the B18C, you can easy get it to 200HP with the right cams, springs and retainers and the typical bolt ones.

I’m personaly doing this right now I have the comon bolt on I/H/E plus high flow cat Skunk 2 IM and S2000 injectors and Hondata S100. I’m just saving up for Skunk 2 stage 2 cams and springs and retainers. I wanted to do Jun Stage 2’s but I dont want to spend so much money on a car I now drive maybe once in a blue moon.
