b17a head for LS/vtec

good? bad? anything? i wanna know the ups and downs…just need some info before i go on the lookout for one…

Its just a B16 head. Its the same thing. (PR3 right?)

pro:
-its a pr3 head (same as itr, except itr has port/polish and diff valvetrain) also the same as a b16a

con:
-price. typically you will pay more for a b17a head than a b16a head because people will demand more just because its rarer (eventhough its essentially the same).

If you’re going ls/vtec do yourself a favor and just buy a complete b16a swap. Use the:
-head
-intake manifold
-ecu (if you have a 90-91, if you don’t, just sell it)
-distributor (if you have a 90-91, if you don’t, just sell it)
-injectors (again, if you havea 90-91)
-tranny
-maybe even the pistons

then sell everything thats left. By doing this you’ll get almost all the parts you need for your ls/vtec (minus all the block rebuilding and the oil line kit) all at once and won’t have to piece it all together which can be difficult.
