Just hoping someone has found a factory style replacement fuel pressure regulator for a stock b17a1. Im on my 5th try. I admit it might be the fuel pump but with the stalling when im pulling grades or on a long freeway run then letting me start up again 20 min later has me thinking pressure regulator. Im definitely welcoming opinions at this point. The car won’t start with any regulator ive tried but always started with the worn out factory reg but today it gave up on starting at all. I should probably go find a fuel gauge and see where i am. I cant find mine.
Ive had 19 integras over the years and have seen and fixed a ton of issues. I think this time im just afraid its what i dont want it to be which is the pain in azz pump. Any constructive input from anyone with this experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
What all have you tried replacing so far?
Really just the regulator was replaced recently and got the opposite of an improvement. I already have a digital dizzy with the coil on on plug conversion, newish oem fuel filter, rebuilt injectors by rc racing and probability a few other things ive forgotten. The engine has 309k so its likely that my pump is just super weak finally. I had hoped it was the regulator because its original and easy but i think im out of luck
Its been getting weaker by the month so a worn out pump is a good bet. Im just dreading the job
Alright. The reason I was asking was because I had to replace the ECU to remedy my fuel issue a few years ago. If you have access to a compatible ECU, you can try that considering it’s an easier job versus the pump ![]()
I sure hope its not my ecm. I had a jdm reflashed ecm that let my vtec come on at 4800 but it fried on me a few months ago so I put my original box back in. Its been in storage for years. Id say its a low likelihood that both are bad…I hope lol. It would fire with the old regulator but as soon as I gave it some gas pedal to get going, it would stutter and struggle and not accelerate. I thought and hoped it was the regulator but now it won’t start at all with a new regulator or the old one. Im gonna guess that my pump isnt good enough to pressurize a new regulator which is why it wouldn’t start before and now its just not enough to even get the car started at all. Im just going to go for it and change that stupid pump. 309k is enough lol.
