B18 cylinder compression

What is the cylinder compression of a B18a1. I just compression tested my cylinders and are all at about 120. So i know they all suck, not just 1 bad cylinder. Im just curious as to what it is suppose to be brand new. Thanks

A healthy B18A is suppose to report 184psi. The engine should be serviced if it drops below 150psi I believe.

Serviced? as in what. Im thinking its the rings that have gone bad. the engine has a million and a half miles on it. ok, thats exaggerating, mabey just 170000 on it. Thanks for the help.

Serviced as in rebuild.

What were your compression numbers??
Did you do the test when your engine was hot or cold?? (You are supposed to do it when it is at normal operating temperature)

Like Oz said, you might want to look into doing a rebuild if your under 150 per cylinder or the numbers are more than 15% off between any cylinder. They should all be within 15% of each other.
180 is pretty normal for a well taken care of LS.

If you did do a compression test and the numbers came out less than optimal then you will want to have a leak down test done to pinpoint the problem areas.
Even if your compression is at 150 or so and all the values are within 15% of each other, then they are still within tolerable specs.
