I just rebuilt my engine for my integra and started the car up and it started up nice and smooth and idles good. The problem I am having is I hear this noise coming from the crank pulley or in that area. I placed a large screw driver around the motor and listened but the engine sounds like it’s running real smooth with no knocks or anything like that. The sound deff seems to be exterior to the motor.
I have a video but it is in quicktime format from my cell phone and I dont know how to post it.
I have removed the crank pulley to make sure I have the washers on both sides of the timing belt and they are in the right place in the correct direction. I know the plastic cover is warped a bit by the crank pulley and I though maybe it is rubbing it but the noise does not sound constant. It is most noticed after revving the engine and it come back down to normal idle speed.
I was going to take my alternator belt off to rule that out. Then I was going to removed the plastic cover to rule that out. Next, I was going to loosen the timing belt a little incase it is to tight. It just sounds like it’s rubbing on something.
Has anyone had anything like this happen? I can email you the video file if you would like to take a look and help out.
Thanks,
Ryan
