Hey I recently swapped a jdm b16a 1st gen into my 91’ integra and the lines from my “purge control solenoid” are too wide to fit on the b16a throttle body. I was wondering if I would be able to use my 91’ integra throttle body in its place? It bolts on but i’m not sure if it’s ok to use for that engine. or if there’ll be too much flow through those lines. I wanna get this thing on the road
I have an ls/vtec motor and i’m using a 99 b16 head. The 99 b16 throttle body is alot different than an ls. I couldn’t use the b16 tb so I just bolted on the ls tb. It’s worked perfect so far. The only thing I was concerned about was flow. I’m not sure if a ls flows as much air as a b16. I’m also not sure if the 1st gen b16 tb is the same as the 2nd gen but I hope this helps.
I did a swap kind of like yours using the b18a TB b/c of the b16a TB hose diam. where different. As I can remember measuring the openings of both and they where the same. Double check by measuring the openings of both. I have used it with no problems on my set up (b18c5 bottom, b16a top) but is currently out to RC for their oversize teatment.
yea (Drew Driver), that’s the thing. The hose diameter on the b16a TB is much smaller than the b18a TB. those hoses are just for cleaning the air i think but does the larger hose opening on the b18a TB affect b16 performance? Both TB’s have a bore of 58MM. And do you know more about what that red-braided hose if for?
anyone answer plz
The red hose is attched to your canister which stores fuel vapor to reduce the amout of raw HC released from your gas tank. The canister has activated charcol to store the vapor. The hose that you are talking about delivers the vapor to the engine to be burt off so the canister doesn’t get full. The only time it allows this to happen is controled by the ECU and the purge valve. It won’t affect performance, just maybe alittle different volume flow of vapor. The canister also has one has going to the gas tank to get the vapor, and the other one goes to the pruge valve. When the purge valve is opened by the ECU engine vaccum is applied to the diaphram valve on top of the canister, which opens the valve and sends vapor to the throttle body.
Hopes this answers your question as well as some info on how this system works
ok if the b18a1 TB isnt a perfect fit on the jdm sirII then what is?
