Hello everybody my name is Ken and I have been a guest on here for quite some time and I was wondering if you guys and possibly gals could help me with a project of mine, I have a 1990 Acura Integra LS DA9 with a B18A1 and S1 5 speed and I was wondering what would be some good performance parts to throw at the motor, right now the only parts that I have equipped on the car are:
MSD Blaster Coil and Distributor
MSD 9.5mm plug wires
NGK-R spark plugs
DC sport(?) CAI
Black Energy Suspension Polyurethane Motor Mount Inserts and Complete master bushing set for front suspension
Brand new half shafts
brand new Dorman Upper Control Arms
HK5 4" adjustable coilovers
16" FoCal Majestic R6’s
30% reduction Short Throw Shifter
Brand name slotted, cross drilled and vented rotors with hawk red stuff pads
full A’pexi Cat back exhaust
Other than that it’s pretty much stock, any help in the performance area would be greatly appreciated, might I also note that I would like to stay N/A and NOT boosted, the car does have a few bad spots, and I am looking for a transmission right now as I just recently lost 4th gear and I cannot even slide it into 4th by backing off the gas and easing it in. Once again I appreciate any help on this
most people are going to tell you to search… do your searching on honda-tech which is a little more informative than here when it comes to good performance parts. even check out nonvtec.com plenty of info there. if it was me i would get a spare motor to build up to whatever you plan to use it for (drag or track use). also if you still decide to throw parts at the current motor make sure it is healthy by doing a compression and leak down test… good luck
I should have posted this but I forgot because of how late it was that I posted, the car is currently put up for the winter and the head was pulled because of a bad head gasket, when I get some spare time the motor and trans will be getting pulled so I can pull the car out when the car show season starts. Also I’m looking for street/strip use out of it, nothing major, just want to be able to run it at the local strip and still show up to car shows with it. I actually want to go pretty wild with the motor build but I want to stay all motor and non-vtec. Thank you for the advice noir90, any other advice will also be appreciated.
sorry about that, the nothing major part was about not trying to shoot 10’s in this thing, just faster than what it is, and by wild I’m talking mainly anything better than stock, sorry I’m not clear on my posts, I have had a long day at work and am a little over tired
If you’re not trying to do any actual engine work, as in tearing apart the bottom and top end, then I’d suggest reducing the airflow restrictions. Since you already have an intake, why don’t you get a better flowing intake manifold. You already have a full exhaust, but the exhaust isn’t doing much because it’s still restricted by your stock headers. You could do a lot of damage with just bolt ons, people just tend to forget about the little stuff.
ok guys another question, I haven’t had any luck finding a transmission locally. As I stated I lost 4th gear if I order this

does this replace the 4th gear in my trans or does anybody know of a place where I order just 4th gear, I have the trans tore apart and there is no damage of any sort to any of the other gears.
