My engine incurred a mysterious overheat, I suspect sabotage by local shop who predicted I would need headgasket. Hmmm To the Point, I am looking to rebuild my engine. I like to know what OEM (other than B18a1) pistons I can use. If I can reason with a good set of OEM high compressions that will straight fit, no valve contact situations … then I will most likely go with some Weisco high compression, and have a local Machine Shop do the machine work, rebuild. Any advice here?
I don’t have first-hand experience with fitment (although internet consensus 10 years ago was that B16A pistons were a direct fit and B18C pistons required milling the ends of your rods to make them thinner) but I can tell you that you can’t readily find ANY OEM B-series pistons anymore. At least not straight from a dealer online.
