b18a1 swap for a b18c

i currently have a 92 gs w/ a b18a1, i want to swap it for a b18c from a 96+ gsr. i found a website sunrisejdmmotors.com and it includes the complete motor tranny ect. i was wondering how hard this swap would be. the price of the motor and tranny is 2800 is that a fair price. also i currently have a p75 ecu programmed by xenocron will i be able to use that with the b18c. plz help im any recommendations will b appretiated

That sounds like a good price to me. especially since your getting motor and tranny!! I would look around though honda motors online has alot of the GSR motors. Im pretty sure the motor mounts are gonna be different but dont quote me.I would try to find a motor that is from the same year make it easier on yourself. I would also try to get the wire harness with the motor and from what I have seen you should be able to find a motor that comes with the ECu also look for a motor close to were u live cause the shipping with some places is rediculous. I am actually in the process of looking for a motor myself go to this web site ( SWengines.com) they had some GSR motors for like 2400 with free shipping and they give you a 180 day warranty. That was just for the motor though?!? hope this post helped.

i have looked into the gsr motors from 92 and they are a b17 and from wat ive heard and read on the forum is that the b17 r the bastard of integra motors. not sure on that but o well. and the motor i was looking at comes with a ecu but its a p74, i dont know much about ecu’s, but my has already been programmed. plus im getting the motor put in by a shop because i dont have a place to work on my car at the moment. and sunrisejdmmotors.com the shipping is free, thank you for posting any help is good help

The motor you are looking at also comes with a hydraulic clutch…Yours is cable so you will need a bunch of parts to do the conversion, namely a Hasbro conversion kit that costs i believe around 400 bucks…(Do some checking around but I think you will find it is not cheap)

As for the b17, its a bastard child because it’s not easy to find parts for, but it is a wonderful engine.

Best to get the b18c and use your cable trans and clutch, save yourself a lot of effing around and money. As the previous poster says, do make sure you research what you need for motor mounts as well, they can be pricey too.

Best to post this in the hybrid forum instead of stock and do a whole lot of searching…Those guys will know everything you need for this swap.

use the stock da mounts they will all work. stick with ur da cable trans and the p74 that comes with the motor is obd2 will not work in your car with out a jumper harnes. that runs like $75-100 uaually. or run another vtec obd1 ecu like a p28 or p30 if you can find one. the p75 is obd1 with 3 grey connectors and it will run the motor but its non vtec. to run vtec you will need to decide on the computer and wire in your vtec solinoid directly to the ecu for it to work.

and the b17 is a great motor. i have one and love it! some parts are hard to find but most everything can be run of a b16 or even b18 depending on what it is.

Don’t forget that you’re going to need to swap your injectors and distributor (which will require housing modification). I would highly recommend swapping a Skunk2 intake manifold and using your stock engine harness w/ the addition of the 3 necessary VTEC wires. I’ve done 3 of these swaps (2 being on my own DA’s), I’m sure I’ve addressed any problems you may encounter.

i dont want to sound stupid, but im new to honda’s and integra’s wat does DA stand for

The letters DA don’t mean anything… But have you ever looked at your cars Vin#? It will start with JH4DA9XXXXXXXXX… So your car is a DA9. That tells us what your car is… a 1990-1993 2-door Integra.

If it said DA6, that would mean it is a JDM 1992-1993 Integra XSi/RSi, etc.

The most common Chassis Codes that you’ll see in the honda scene are:
EF - 1989-1991 Civic
EG - 1992-1995 Civic
EK - 1996-2001 Civic
DC - 1996-2001 Integra
DA - 1990-1993 Integra
DB2 - 1992-1993 GSR
DB8 - 1994-2001 4-door Integra

Though many of those codes are for the JDM model, many people use them even when talking about USDM models.
