b18a1 w/ gsr crank,piston,rod possible?

some people says it will fit no problem, but some says needs to be machined to fit right.

if need to be machined, what work is needed?

is this swap worth it?

i have piston rod combo (srp piston eagle rods) for gsr and i want to able to fit this to B18A1
going for LsV w/ B16A

any help will be appreciated.
g2ic never fails me, hope you guys could me again:)

tnx

The GSR crank and rods/pistons will fit a B18A block… but you need to have the mains line-honed and the crank polished to make sure that the clearances are all in spec.

Using the GSR internals on a B18A crank will give you some crazy compression because the B18A crank has a longer stroke.

But if you do the full GSR swap into a B18A block, it shouldn’t be a problem. As I said, you just need to get the mains honed, and should probably do the rods to, to make sure everything matches the specs on the crank.

Hope any of that makes sense.

how do i achieved this?
can do it my self or has to take to machine shop?

A machine shop should polish the crank, and take measurements of it.

Then they should line-hone the main journals on the block, using the measurements of the crank, to determine how much the journals need to be honed to achieve the oil clearances that you’re wanting (usually right in the middle of stock specs)

The same is usually done with the rods as well, just to be safe.

i have an access for polishing the crank, but not line-hone not in this island. so no way of putting the crank, rod, piston to b18a1? man i’m stock!

Without line-honing the block, you cant accurately swap in a different crank… oil clearances will be off. You might get lucky with them all being in spec with no line-hone, but I’d seriously doubt it. There has to be a shop on the Islands that can do it.

not anymore, i live in a small island of maui. i know all the machine shops here which only 2 but they dont do line-hone.

any way im guessing i’ll just have to use the LS crank and just use the SRP piston w/ the LS internals.
tnx

hey 90teggy is upcountry machine still in business? it was owned by the howard andrade. it’s been many years since i’ve been home. so maybe not.
