B18a1's and B17a1's

What does the B18a1 teg run in a 1/4 mile? same with a 2g GS-R? Friends have told me they ran 15.2s-16.5’s. with the LS’s. The friend who said he ran a 15.2 was with just a cold air home made. I don’t see how that could be cuz I thought I read somewhere that a stock B17a1 GS-R would run in the low 15’s.

I love brag racing threads. This should be fun once the east coast gets here.

Is this gonna be a thread that’s closed in 2 days?

why wait two days? fuckin a, suprised it hasn’t been closed already. your friends are lieing to you. stock they only ran 19.3s. of course the “cold air homemade” could be worth a few seconds, but even then youre only looking at 17.3s

H’es not lying when I saw him at the track with my own 2 eyes.

Can people that HAVE track slips, please post what they have ran. All B series and what mods?

Including turbo, everything.

Wait, people still drag race?

Maybe the east coast didn’t get the memo. :hmm:

15.2 b17 with an intake and no back seats. i have the slip in the car. drag racing sucks. i tried it once and will never do it again.

Thank you. Keep them coming.

I ran a 14.2 with an intake and no interior. and by no interior I mean no seats at all, no carpet, no dash, no door panels, and no seat belts. and by no seats I mean I actually sat on a milk crate. I sliped the tech guy a clean crisp George Washington to pass tech inspection. I have the slip in my car somewhere so I can’t post it.

16.2 w b18a1, intake, exhaust…

Damn I really need to get to the track.

15.8 with my old '91 LS-Special, B18a1, CAI, full exhaust, B16 trans and a fresh clutch.

My new car, '95 4-door GSR B18c1, all stock with 211,000+miles ran a 15.3.

Drag is pretty boring though, auto cross FTW!

15.8 @ Carlsbad with just an RS*R exhaust back in 1999… full system, full tank of gas and 35 psi in the tires.

-93 LS

What do you guys launch at on the track? i’m guessing pretty diffrient then the streets?

about 5k

all depends on your tires, psi in tires, power, clutch/fly setup. and if you dump or feather the clutch. pretty much just takes pratice, start at 3k if it bogs go to 4k. if it spins lower your tire pressure or rpm. just find the happy medium between boggin and spinning. be careful not to launch with to much power on stock axles they snap pretty easy.

I’ve heard Stock LS runs mid 16’s stock, but i have no person experiance.

I went 15.7 with the B18a1 (92 da)
Crappy Intake with AEM Filter
JDM YS1 trans with LSD (4.40 final drive)
and some lightweight wheels with crappy tires.

Keep in mind I live in Phx and ran that when the temp was like 104 degrees (yes even at night)

She’s on a 50 wet shot now and I’m waiting to run it later when it cools off.
Looking for a low 14 with the temp change and nitrous.

MIR (Maryland International Raceway)
15.0 @87mph
nothing too special
B18A1
Hondata S200
custom CAI (made from two SRIs, lol)
stock header (did have a crappy header, but not at my recent pass)
GReddy SP2 exhaust
Crower 402 cams
Skunk2 Cam Gears (great items btw)
very mild headwork (Mild P&P, cleaned combustion chambers etc.)
bored throttle body
removed rear seat (otherwise full interior)
one hell of a tune
a few other goodies that, individually, didn’t do much to help performance, but combined, helped make a little more power
144whp and 117.6lb-ft (on a chassis dyno at AR Fabrications in Winchester, VA)
Toyo Proxes tires (205/45-16) on 5Zigen FN01R-C wheels (pretty lightweight for being an aftermarket wheel)
freshly broken in clutch (at the time)
as well as a good tune up the day before (plugs, wires, cap/rotor :blah: )
5h1fT1n M4d qw1k y0!

i believe i’m done with drag racing, all that stuff is anymore is a cockfight. getting ready to invest in some high quality suspension parts and t3h vt3c y0 (B18C ITR motor)

i’ll put a little work into the motor, shooting for around 200whp when all is said and done. i might even put it on the spray, at a nice low setting, nothing crazy. in case i do feel like going fast in a straight line again.

i’ve come to the following conclusion about me and my car. i am pretty damn good at drag racing, imo. i would like to work on being better at circuit/auto-x racing. i’m beginning to live by this motto (taken from a magazine a few years back):

“Straights are for fast cars, corners are for fast drivers”

good luck brian. to answer your question in short, depending on tires, drag racing skill, launch technique, engine/transmission/clutch condition etc. a stock B18A1 (obd0 or obd1) should be in the mid 15’s. a B17A1 (GS-R) should be a little quicker. i’d say in the 15.4-15.3 range. this is just an estimate. too many variables that come into play when it comes to how fast your car will go in a straight line.
