b18b1 starting issues.......need help

Hey guys i just put my b1 block back together with acr main and rod nearings with new npr piston rings.i put the head on got the block to top dead center put the timing belt on and the motor just cranks it wont start… i got spark and fuel…the motor cranks kinda fast so we checked the compression and the is no compression…i was thinkin the timing jumped but im not sure…i didnt replace the timing tensioner. Could thatbe the issue…any help would be great thanx

absolute zero compression in all cylinders? recheck your mechanical timing.
when you installed the rings, were the end gaps in correct positioning?

Yep zero compression acrossthe board…i was thinkin the timing is out 180

if the timing marks all line up, and the word “up” is facing up on the cams, it’s not possible.
go back and check your mechanical timing

Ok cool i will go check the timing again…could timing belt tensioner be the problem? Oh and i noticed something that i have never seen before. One side of the timing belt was loose and the othe side was tight. Is it supposed to be that way

there should be SOME slack on the side opposite the tensioner. not much though
i think you better check that mechanical timing again

Sounds like valves need adjusting, they are way too tight, do a valve lash adjustment. 94

Ok cool thanx guys…i will let u know how it all goes
