Why would you run a vtec tranny on a non vtec motor? just wondering…
shorter gearing= quicker acceleration.
I’m interested in the swap at some point too. I’m doing track events so shorter gearing sounds good.

I am getting a turbo kit soon, is it true that the ls tranny is better for turbo’s, or would a gsr tranny be better?
alot of people say one is better than the other, but i think it really all depends on:
turbo/motor set up
what kind of driving you do (drag/autocross/etc?)
With a turbocharged LS you’ll be able to accelerate quicker due to less shifting, and higher top-speed. GS-R tranny is (I think) better for just daily driving with not a lot of highway traveling, the car will also be “easier” to maneuver through traffic.
hey guys i searched for this and do i need a gsr throttle cable??? or is there some way i can use my throttle cable thanks!!! oh its a 95 gsr in a 91 gs thanks!
probably just a matter of moving the cable bracket. Should be able to get it to work. Thats how it was on the h22 anyway.
dyno’d my b18c swap last weekend and got 98.8 kw atw.
91DA6… When I dropped my B18C1 in, i did have to change my throttle cable to a 95 GSR cable. My stock LS cable was too long. Also, There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a LS tranny on you B18C1. Yeah, the gears are longer but it still pulls really hard. I beat a RSX type-S by about a bumber using my stock LS YS1 tranny. I eventually will put in a usdm B17 cable GS-R though.
I thought the YS1 was out of a 92-93 GSR and the A1 or S1 is out of the LS’
I thought so too…But stamped on my tranny it clearly states YS1 00984765098… Its the original Tranny from the factory. I’m the original owner. Weird huh?
92-93 integras with manual transmissions all had a YS1 stamp on them, regardless of whether they were a GSR or RS/LS/GS.
Well…I guess that makes sense. Cause a buddy of mine had the same thing. We thought we were all special and stuff cause we had YS1 trannys. Really long ass gears.
