B18C1 swap, what intake to use?

Hey guys I have a small problem with my swap, the stock intake wont fit anymore because of the GSR manifold being lower than the stock LS… I was thinking of cutting the pipe i have now (ebay intake for 90-93 integra) but i want to know if anyone makes an intake for this swap or if the civic intakes, with one bend, fit better… thanks

I just cut mine right behind the battery and put a coupling on it

Heres a pic, kinda hard to see but if you follow from the cone filter after that first curve you will see the black coupling

Hope that helps

thats a good idea… i was just going to put the filter closer in but ill do that… thanks a lot :bowthank:

btw you’re swap looks really clean, good job

current setup - 92 DB2B18C

using a gs-r AEM CAI with a bypass valve

as follows:

and the bay has been cleaned since - its shiney as a bitch - and i pulled out the cruise module - just dont have updated pics

What if you got a Skunk2 Intake Manifold??? Or a stock Type R one. Would that work? It sits up like the LS manifold.

Right. That would allow me to use the intake unmodified, but im not going to get one just for that reason right now. Maybe later on.

If you want to spend the money then get a skunk2 or blox manifold. I’ll be getting one here soon. I don’t know if you tried to put your intake piping on but the fuel filter has to be lowered down some other wise it sits in the way of the pipe. I had a piece of aluminum that came with my dad’s Dodge Ram CAI that was drilled out and used that as a bracket. You can probably do the same and get a small piece of aluminum strip at home depot or lowes and drill some holes. I’m not sure what other people did but check around.

Also make sure you pick up a g3 gsr throttle body cable from acura if your using the gsr throttle body since it opens the opposite way. I think it was around $20 when I picked mine up

Thanks for the advice, i have one of those strips so i’ll use it if theres a problem with the fuel filter.

Im using a 92-95 civic throttle cable.

Thanks

would a stock b18c1 intake work?

This one is great…I had the same exact problem when I did the B18C1 swap. Well for about a week I rolled around with a nylon stocking securely fastened to the throttle body. But I never had the balls to engage Vtec, for obvious reasons. A friend of mine then suggested that I find an aftermarket
B18A1 intake and cut it to size. Well it totally works. Not only does it manage to fit, it sucks in air so well I hear it whistle, it reminds me of like a turbo or something. All I needed to do was buy about 4 couplers and some fasteners and cut the intake, then you adjust to fit.
