I tried searching and didn’t find anything that answered my question. Maybe I just suck at searching. Will an exhaust manifold from a b18c1 fit onto a b17? I cross-referanced gasket part numbers with Acura, and the b18c5 and b17 match up, but i’m looking for a 4-2-1 one-piece header. I would think that since they’re all B-series it would fit… thanks
it will bolt up but you might have a problem with it clearing the factory crossmember.
I know the ITR headers do not find unless u cut the crosmember
But if you cut the crossmember wouldn’t that weaken the structure of the car?
i am about 95% sure that no on piece header will fit without at least notching the crossmember. i would go ahead and notch it. i doubht it will do any serious damage if just a small ammount is taken out. i’ve seen a few cars with that done before, ef civics and da integras. i’ve never done it before though. why not just get a 4-2-1 2pc header?
cutting anything weakens anything. now heres soemthing to consider, if you lowered and have problems with bumps and shit and now your putting on a header thats even lower then guess what, your gonna mess it up on the bumps. you might wanna think about that before anything else.
why would the header be lower? the b18c1 header is the same height as a b17 header. and a b18a header if any difference would be taller…
EDIT: if you are worried about cuttin the crossmember (i wouldnt be), then get an aftermarket crossmember/traction bar. its a good investment in the long run. unless u plan on doing just bolt ons. but in that case, you shouldnt worry about which header you use anyway…
k thanks guys
it will fit just fine. and the notch in the crossmember is very minor. the type R headers are the ones that will hang low on a g2. i made a skidplate to protect my 98spec itr header. itr headers are also short, so the exhaust will have to be lengthened. the two piece headers will fit much easier, and shouldnt need any extra clearance via cutting the xmember.

i got a 1 piece header from ebay for 150 and got it to fit on my b17.had to remove basically the whole engine to make it fit and cut into the support bar on the bottom…after two weeks of driving got a big ass whole in it…so had to get a new header cuz it hung an inch of the ground. just driving on a straight road sometimes would hit… just go with a two piece…dont have to waste 7 hours taking apart the whole engine bay to make it fit.
moral of the story: Don’t buy a cheap header from ebay if you expect high quality. I’d bet the jdm itr header wouldnt fall apart like that.
i’ve never heard of an engine having to be completely removed. did you try takin your radiator out? and notching the crossmember is a very common thing for g2 tegs. how low to the ground are you? are you on stock struts? there are many factors to why your header got damaged. the fact that it was an ebay header really is a small part of it. obx makes on of the lowest hanging one piece headers. i had one for a while. yes the jdm header will “fall apart” like that if you are too low and bottom out the car all the time. no matter what the quality of the header is, the ground will will every time. if you are slammed yea you can punch a hole in it. if you drove over certain things too fast, yeah you’ll hit it. did you research a skidplate?
or dropping the crossmember, puttin the header on, and raising the crossmember back up. thats how my buddy does it on his crx.
well you gotta drop the xmember to notch it anyhoo, but the darn fans are so thick you sometimes need to remove the radiator and fans to get everything in right. its pretty easy just messy.
FAL fan…
he’s a fortunate one.
