b18c1

What’s the going rate for a b18c1 longblock these days whether USDM or JDM? Are there any places that sell just the block(other than thepartstrader)?

If using a 1st gen b16a head on a b18c1 block, wouldn’t the wiring be the same as for a 1st gen b16a and I could also use a PR3 ECU? What if a type-r head is used instead? Is it a lot more complicated?

How high can a stock b18c1 bottom end be revved to and does anyone know it’s stock redline?

Thanks

what head you use doesn’t really matter at all. Read the engine swap guide and this will make complete sense to you.

if you have a 90-91 then you’ll use a non obd distributor, injectors, and ecu. If you have a 92-93 then you’ll use obd1 distributor, injectors and ecu. Doesn’t matter what head you use.

If you have a 90-91 and want to use the b18c1 head then you should save yourself a lot of time and money and just use the skunk2 intake manifold.

etc…etc…etc…

all this is in the engine swap guide.

I’ve read that guide many times. Maybe I just missed some parts. The reason I wanted to use the b16a, aside from flow characteristics, was because I thought it would save me some wiring and I wouldn’t have to worry about the secondary butterfly garbage with the b18c1 head. And I thought this would be slightly different in some ways to what was in the engine swap guide.
So basically it doesn’t matter which head I use with any block? Even if I used a OBD-1 or OBD-2 head? I suppose I just use the b18a cream plug and add wires for vtec and stuff and just get a PR3 ECU. BTW, yeah my car is a '91.

basically ignore the block you are using. the key parts to making the swap work are the dist, injectors, ecu, and in some cases the intake manifold.

since you have a 91 you should either use the b16a head and intake manifold, or a b18c1 head, and the skunk2 intake manifold. Both cases you’ll use non obd ecu, distributor, and injectors.

making the b18c1 manifold work on your car is not going to be worth the trouble… especially when you could spend about the same amount of money in the end and just use a skunk2 piece which will flow much better anyway.

Yeah I had no plans of using the gsr IM.
Anyone know what a b18c1 longblock goes for or a place that sells them?
I think I may just get a b16a swap for now and then swap the out the b16 block for a b18c1 block later down the road but I want to know what my options are.
