Do any1 have type r pistons in there LS? if so let me know how it runs bcuz i have been thinking about getting some of those.![]()
well, i donât have them, but thereâs not really any point in talking to someone who does. What you need to know is about the compression ratioâs youâll be running.
usdm itr pistons in a b18a/b will give you 10.34:1, jdm itr pistons will give you 10.8:1. Both of these compression ratios are very good. Both will run great on pump gas (premium of course). Personally if i was in your position iâd opt for some p30 pistons (92+ b16a pistons) they will give you 11:1 compression and will fit your rods without modification. the itr pistons (any b18c or b16b piston) will require that you have your rods shaved by a machine shop. You could also get pr3 pistons (89-91 b16a) and that will give you 10.82:1, and again you wonât need your rods shaved.
getting the pr3âs or p30âs gives you the ability to have higher compression and saves you money because you wonât have to have the rods shaved.

thanks for the info bcuz i didnt know that i would have to shave my rods. But wit the compression that the B16a pistons will be giving me is it still safe to run nos or even go turbo? or is it to much compression?

i dontâ really know anything about NOS so i canât help you there. But 10.8:1 is probably too high for turbo. Of course this does depend on how built up the motor is and how much boost your running (if you were running a very strong motor and that high compression with turbo i donât think itâd be safe unless you were running forged pistons). Typically if youâre going NA you want to go as high as you can with compression, with going turbo you want to stick to low numbers. the stock b18a compression is great for turbo.
thanks for the info, bcuz im kinda new to the game. but i definitly thinking about going all motor. it might just be cheaper.![]()
