b18c5 swap gone wrong

im sry im not hip with some of the lingo wat is a MFR and also where is that

The Main fuel relay… Its super common on these cars to go bad… its under the drivers side kick panel… There are a million posts on MFR replacement or fixing…

http://www.g2ic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=177020&highlight=main+fuel+relay+pictures

There is a picture of were its located… And here is what i found on how to test it… The only thing i dont notice in this write up is the first click right when you turn the key on…

Testing your Main Fuel Relay

1)Turn the Key to the “ON” position, you’ll notice that your “Check Engine”(CEL) light comes on.

2)Now as soon as your “CEL” comes on you’ll hear the Fuel Pump priming,

3)Then about 2 seconds after the “CEL” comes on and the Fuel Pump primes, the “CEL” will turn off. The moment the “CEL” turn off you will hear a “Click” sound, coming around where your coin tray is located (MFR Location).

If nothing happens during steps 2 and 3 after trying up to 5 times:
not hearing the Fuel Pump prime and the “Click”, then your Main Fuel Relay is most likely bad. Pull off and inspect per Helms directions, see note.

If steps 1 through 3 work 5 out of 5 times:
Rule out the Main Fuel Relay

If steps 1 through 3 works about 3 out of 5 trys or works but then doesnt:
It could still be your MFR. I was getting this problem so I bought a new MFR anyways and it solved the problem.

ok ok ok no pwr to the pump i think its my relay

Ok so I’m an idiot and was not testing the pump right i finally found the exact procedure in my helms and found that my relay is beautiful and almost new it looks like and also my pump has power for the two seconds when i turn the key to on but it doesn’t do anything no noise no nothing so I’m gonna take a 190.00 stab in the dark and say its my pump hopefully that fixes this situation and i can start her up tom. if not I’m gonna cry(on the inside cause real men don’t cry on the outside)

Barrow a fuel pressure gauge.

it was just a bad pump shes on the road runnin smoother then ever just need a vtec controller so i can turn it down it doesnt kick in until 5700 and that is not cuttin with the long gears on my gsr tranny

maybe someone can help

i just replaced the headgasket on my 90 integra ls…all stock motor. in the process i got a bolt stuck in the thermostat housing. the only way i could remove it was by completely removing the waterneck. so once i got everything back together i fill the coolant up and i notice that it was leaking from behind the motor. where the tube that leads to the waterneck meets the block (i.e. right behind the waterpump. is this replaceable? or is it possible that i just need to fit that sucker more tightly in there?

Can you be more specific where your leak is?

[QUOTE=DB2-R81;1993818]Can you be more specific where your leak is?

where 15 meets 20…by the waterpump…specifically where the gasket is…

Sounds like it is time for a new gasket?

where can i pick one up? can you post a link please? thanks

Any dealer Honda or Acura. The B16 Si Civic is the same or online http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org

when i reinstall the water neck tube is there any specific instructions for installation? do i just tap it in lightly with a mallot? or screw it in?

Make sure to put a little oil on the o-ring before inserting the coolant tube. As you put the coolant tube in twist it back and forth and insert slowly. This will keep the O-ring from binding and getting torn or pushed out of it’s groove on the coolant tube. I hope that makes sense.

Man its a crazy trip down memory lane reading this old thread and remembering the good old days. Its funny to read your old posts and realize how stupid you were/are.
