Am I launching to low?

i think you need to practice your launches. with all that torque you should fly out of the hole. try to launch high, spin a little bit off the line, take your foot off the gas for a second so the tires catch, and floor it again. i find that works much better than to have the motor bog down. and i let my foot off the gas for the tires to catch or else i’ll sit there and spin, when that happens i’m usually like a whole second slower crossing the line.

it takes tons of practice. i’m not expert, i’ve only been to the track like 5 times for a total of maybe 20 runs but thats just my 2 cents.

i’m actually about to post my numbers from lastnight so check it out in the forum.

good luck next time.

launch higher and practice driving. math labs hit 15 flat with a bone stock b20. good luck.

what tranny did math labs had?

ls one i belive
ur 60fOOTS ARE TOO HIGH
u need to get em down to 2.2
btw post a pix of the car wondering if i saw u in sj before

Yeah… you should def be running a little faster than that with that motor and those mods. My stock 91 DA rs ran a 15.4 @88Mph on a 2.232 60’ with bald tires and slipping clutch. I was at full weight too.

Keep practicing and you will see better times. and yes, you are launching too low. I usually launch at about 4.5K rpms and slip the clutch. I get minimal wheel spin and come off the line hard.

slip the clutch@ 4k on the b20 keep the gas steady until ur almost all the way off the clutch then slam 2nd gear i did this with my old b20 in my eg and was pulling 2.1 60’s on street tires. gotta love them torqy b20s

I’ve tried to find the right spot to slip, but I cant seem to slip higher than 3k.

4k seems to be the best imo for a ls or b20 i used to launch at 3k and the revs would fall too low and then back up just killing my 60’s with a 4k launch and slipping the clutch correctly ull pull 2.1 60’s wit ease =)

just wondering… for your b20 did you notch your Xmember for the ITR header??? i ask becuz i found that some ppl didnt have to… and i need clearification.

not bad though… what is the elevation where you are at? that can play a factor too…

i only took a hammer to the crossmember twice and i dont think it did much. After I put the header on and checked the cross member there was a good amount of space.

If i were you, i’d just take a hammer to eat twice and check. You’d be surprised.

thats what i was figuring… i was like why the hell am i gonna cuta portion out? lol thanx
