ok i am getting free b20 cams and this b20 is the 145hp with 9.2 CP and i want it to know if the cams from that motor will be better then the cams in this 90 LS… i search and i get a mix yes and no on it so if someone can help me that would be coo.
Yeah any B20B cams should be better than the 90’s cams. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I remember on Honda Tech someone did a comparison of all non vtec/non prelude B series cams out there. I know they have greater lift but I am not sure about duration.
prelude ?
vtech?
lol vtec not vtech, honda doesnt make phones lol but yeah you should be able to use the cams out the b20a/b inplace of the stock b18a1 cams
Yeah Vetech smetech. You got my point. In terms of the bastard prelude b series engines, those cams will not work. B20B CRV cams were low end torque cams, not high end torque cams, so anything else should be an improvement.
so i would get more torque and less high end then the b18a cams or does the b20 cams have more torque and high end then the b18a cams…
Usually low lift/low duration= better low end torque. This is the case of the CRV B20B cams, but due to the lack of duration and lift they run out of breath higher up the RPM range. With the B18 cams you have more duration/lift so you won’t run out of breath higher up. When you don’t run out of breath the higher you go with rpms the more power you will make. To simplify use the b18 cams as they will give you more power up top while reducing your low end torque ever so slightly.
its not even worth swapping though.
also its the p8r head and cams…
Just stick with them then. I have a P8R also. From what it said on honda tech, the P8R cams and the LS P72 cams are pretty much the same.
coo i will get them and put them in and tell you how they feel. its better then the b18a cams…
