b20 crank

i’ve seen many write ups about putting different cranks in a b20 but what about a b18a crank? I kno they’re pretty much identical but which 1 has the better r/s ratio? and can u rev a b20 just as high as a b18a?

Its the same crank.

The B17 crank is the one to put in the B20!!:burnout:

so its EXACTLY the same? And will the extra 3mm in the bore lower its revability?

Yes, its exactly the same. It has the same rev potential as the LS engine. HTH

What is the benefits of the b17 crank and difference from the b18a/b b20/b/z crank??

I’m building my b20 right now, but don’t think I’ll be increasing my rpm anytime soon, but will be balancing the crank.

I’ve heard about the b17 in the b20, but never knew what EXACTLY was the benefits. Explain for my eager mind. Thanks!

rcnacura, lots of b17 crank info here…

also, as can be seen here…

the stock b20z redlines at 6700, that’s 100rpm lower than the b18b. Not sure tho, if they did that to be safe with it (more reciprocating weight) or because there is no power to begot up further.

up, not gunna use the b17 now. I’ll lose the thing that I’m doing the swap for, TORQUE! I’ll just keep the b20 crank and have it balanced so in the future if I want, I can raise the redline.

My B20 with B17 head could rev 8000 r.p.m. with no problems.

So you used your stock b20z/b crank without getting it balanced and it had no prob/vibrations?

Yeppers. Shotpeened and balanced stock rods (for sale).
