just wanted to see some opinons on this . my b18’s rings are goin cause its smoke pretty bad when i drag start and accelerate hard . would it be better to replace my rings rebuild the block and continue on with the mods i plan on turbo charging with a small turbo and runin low boost. something good for auto x. or should i buy a low milage b20 and run low boost. my b18 has about 140,000 miles on it and the guy i bought it from didnt change the oil enough and drove it kinda hard . i plan on tryin to stay away from goin inside block. im also on a tight budget and i wanna know wich would be cheaper and get me runnin agin quicker. i have a 90 -91 teg if that makes any differcne. is there any serious bennifits bettween the b20 b or b20 z

Get a B20Z, swap it in, all your bolt on mods on your LS will swap over. The B20Z has the same horsepower as the LS but I think around 10 more lbs of torque, a very noticeable amount at least. When you decide to go turbo, it will handle it just as well as the LS. The B20Z is a newer motor, so most likely it will have less then 40k miles on it.
Go with the B20. More displacement is always nice. If you can afford it, buy performance rods and pistons to put in the motor before you drop it in. Then you will have one mean machine. If you are on a tight budget, rebuilding your b18 would be cheaper considering there is no serious damage to it.
b20 would obviously be the more desirable way to go, but if you want something that can be done fast and cheap then i’d have to say rebuild the b18.

b20b is you are gonna do anything to it, b20z if you are gonna leave the bottom stock.
the b 126hp/126lbs, z is 146hp, 126lbs. not neccessarily with a B18a manifold though…
