b20-VTEC plans.

i would go bigger on the tb maybe 68 or so. i had a stock b16, every bolt on. and i had a 70mm tb that just screamed at top end but kinda lagged down low. i think the 68 would have been great for it. and your talking abut more hp then i had.
the head gasket your getting? is that custom made. or can you use just a stock one

you use the stock one that goes to your motor. i got a b20b so im gonna have to order one for a CR-V from honda. as for TB, 65 is apparently good, maybe i’ll hone it out to 68, i’ll think about that. maybe even try the 65, if i dont like, ill go 68. for exhaust im gonna use 2.5" tubing if possible (dunno what the RS*R ex-mag comes with?)

id go w/ a good 2.5" header(no need to spend the cash for a toda) and custom 2.5" exhaust…

look into the aebs IM…i dont know if they make one for the gsr head tho…basically a s2, but cheaper…

Question…how are you going to run your PCV with this setup? :ok:

aebs is only for b16/ type-r but it works great. i had one on my civic it made power you could feel, but it seemed to be made cheap. maybe just the one i got but two threads stripped out. not my fault

the biggest advice I can give you is to :search: before you buy

i have been searching for the last year almost, i got a huge list of parts in my room that i need, just finalising everything. when i start i will keep you all updated on my project and take lots of pics so you guys can see the project at work. as for PCV valve, there has to be a VTEC valve cover with it on the valve cover. if not, i got the little black box from an old motor, i will take the plug out of the b20 block where it’s supposed to go, and connect it old school style! as for headers, i just wanted the Toda’s for bling when i can afford to spoil myself, besides that, DC would really not bother me at all. im getting a p72 head, so an intake manifold may have to be modified.

ummmm…for the people that said a b20vtec will beat an h22, i hope that you know a 22 makes 144wtq with absolutely no mods. goodluck. i personally prefer any b over a 22, but, the fact still remains that 22’s have alot more potential to make more power than the b20v. the secret to b20vtec (oem sleeves) is destroking. look into finding a gsr/itr crank and rods…and work around that setup. trust me.

hmmm that’s true. i will look into that one, thanks for the idea, i never would have thought of that one. would be easier than balancing too

i dont undertand your reasoning…you say that the h22 makes more torque, which it does, and the way to make more torque(in the b20) is to destroke it??

the only benefit of that will be a better r/s ratio, making for less stress at higher rpms…and it doesnt sound like hes building the head to rev and make power at 9k…

so, i say keep the 89mm crank, balance it and get arp rod bolts…
there is no replacement for displacement

what he said :salute: (nickgmiller04)

i never said a destroked b20v will make more tq. i’m saying its a better option for oem sleeves. less cylinder wall loading will increase the longevity of the motor. yes, it will make less tq, throughout the powerband. but, it will make more h.p. uptop. you can rev almost 1K higher (about 800rpm), safely with the destroked set up. i’ve owned a b20v that made 200whp with simple bolt ons. but, i only revved it to 7600rpm. once i sold the car and the owner banged 8+K shifts, it popped. 84x89 is good, but, 84x87 is safer.

yeah that’s why i wanted to do a GSR/ITR crank. it will probably cost less than balancing my crank (plus i dont even think any place around here does that), and will be safer. i wanna be able to rev at about 8000 rpm, but cant afford sleeves right now, that will go to the summer. wanted to get some JE, or Wiseco pistons (whichever are better and available in 84mm) to up the CR. that would be a nice setup in my eyes. I’ll keep the b20 crank of course, so when i do get the sleeves, i’ll balance the b20 crank, and have more torque

Let me know if you want some JE 11.5:1 pistons. I put about 4,000KM on them.

how much those going for? and are they 84mm for the b20?? come with rings or anything or just piston itself?

They’re 84.5mm and I have the rings for them. You’d want to bore out the block and put new rings in anyhow. Email me, matteakin@shaw.ca and we can discuss price.
