B20B Motor in My 91 Acura RS Any Ideas?

Boo Hooo, sniffle, sniffle, What can I do??? Any Ideas?

My 1991 Acura Intega RS has a B20B motor and the People Republic of CA doesn’t like it! Booo Hooo, sniffle sniffle.

A little backgroung. Bought the car 8 years ago for my Daughter when she turned 16, 160,000 miles When she turned 18 she bought a Civic. Then we gave the car to our youngest Daughter when she turned 16. When she turned 18 she bought a Civic too. Then the wife drove it for a couple of years. Then we bought the wife a new car and I have been driving it for the past 2 years. I mostly drive a motorcycle and only drove the car in the wintertime. It does run fantastic. In the past year I started playing with the car and doing the maintance. New clutch, struts, tune up, CV joints and stuff.

Anyways, took it to get smog tested and the Smog guys popped the hood and said “You had to take it to a smog referee, but they won’t pass it” Its got a B20B Motor from a CRV. HUH? I know 4 years ago my wife had a JDM motor put in it for about 2 grand, but the motor looked just like the old one, so I’m sure its had a B20B motor in it since we bought it 8 years ago.

This has been the best car I have ever owned, Period! It has 347,000 miles on it and it runs great. Yes, the interior (driver side carpet, seat belt and seat) is wore out. And the driver side interior door handle just broke. But, Man 347,000 miles, I love this little car.

I figure I have $4000 into the car since we bought it. Total, that includes purchase price and basically got 180,000 miles out of it, so we got our moneys worth out of the car.

I’m at a loss,Any Ideas? Maybe I’ll just make a Dune Buggy out of it.

G

they wont pass it in cali bc its a small suv motor in a car

Bummer!
