B20b - with a B16a crank

My B20b needs a crank. I have been looking at other options for cranks and have a B16a crank available.
Pros and cons.

IF you could use just the b16 crank, with the b20 rods and pistons, you’d be at 5.89:1 compression… Bad.

Long story short, you need an LS or b20 crank or else you severely de-stroke the motor and reduce the compression to a point where the motor is useless.

what? b16/b18 pistons will not fit the b20

I was moreso meaning the rods… I don’t think b20/B18 rods will fit a B16 crank.

You’re correct, non-B20 pistons won’t fit the cylinder size.

That is what I was thinking and is why I asked!

you’re partially right. you “could” use a b16a crank in a b20, but you’d need custom length rods as the b16a deck height is shorter than the b18/b20, hence the very low compression ratio.
what you can do is use a b18c crank with the b18c rods in a b20… the engine would be about 1.9 liters but it would rev quicker due to the rod/stroke ratio. I was originally going to do this.
but i decided to go about it slightly different and maintain my displacement… i’m going with a lightened flywheel to help it rev quicker.
