I have a b20b high compression and a Gsr head with itr cams and it feels slower than my stock b20… Why? I know I need a tune but shouldn’t it be a little faster?
do a compression test. any cels??
My lsvtec put down 125whp untuned and 187whp tuned…
If you’re not tuned then that is probably 90% of your problem.
You’re expecting a stock (or ‘chipped’) ecu to give you the performance aspects to match a built motor… Not the most realistic expectations.
I am with unified112, tuning is key. (And no a “base map/chip” is not even close to the same thing.)
I put down 182whp untuned and ended with 233whp after being tuned.

Wow I didn’t think it was that much of a difference. What’s your set up?

The majority of the parts list is on page one… Dyno and vid are on one of the last pages.
Regardless of course tuning helps but a compression test could tell you viable info already needed.
process of elimination starting with cheaper options first. you certainly dont want to go the dyno with your new s300 and find out you have low compression in a cylinder…

Well I did a compression test and it came out with 120,100,120,100. But before the vtec swap it was higher. It might be my timing. Or maybe I didn’t put my cam gears or crank pulley on tdc
Ok. So it was my timing… It was way off. I did my compression test against and it was 240 across the board!!! And it was fast!!!
