First time out after swapping in a b20z (non vtec). Mods:
i/h/e/s2 IM (untuned running on obd1 pr4) w/ AC and PS still bolted on and full interior.
Only got to run twice:
I1: 2.298
I2: 6.484
I3: 9.940
MPH (I3): 71.122
I4: 12.897
E.T.: 15.400

I3: 10.055
MPH (I3): 72.075
I4: 12.992
E.T.: 15.480
MPH: 91.256
Btw, I weigh about 230 lbs. I’m still hoping to break into the 14’s with a tune (chrome) and a hi-flow cat.
Nice run!
Not bad brother, I got a B20B8 (AUDM B20Z) with just an Intake and Cat-Back.
First time ran a 15.540 but I guess you’ve got headers and all. At the time I was running I had stock suspension (4WD height!) and 17" wheels with el’ cheapo tyres. It was also my first time but i’m ready to hit the tracks again with a better suspension setup, ignition modifications (External coil, MSD distributor cap + rotor), light weight wheels and better tyres. Hoping for 15 flats.
Here’s my timeslip:
Sorry for hi-jacking your thread, but hey? B20 love!
scratchy-- Picture of my slips?.. I tried to take a picture of the slips with the digicam but it won’t even show the numbers.
quangz-- I was hoping others would chime in and let me know their b20 1/4 times… i’m hoping there are some DAs hitting 14s with the b20 with just i/h/e (no cams).

Set WB properly, put it on macro, take it out of all zoom e t c
I’ve gone 14.7 with my B20 and GSR trans. I’ll have to find one of my slips later.
Car was gutted to shit, no a/c, no p/s, intake, header, no muffler on larger piping but stock cat:mad:
Car weighed in around 2380lbs.
Pics!!
I played around with the digiCam and here’s the shots of the timeslips…
I ran my car again this past wednesday april 30th… best time of 15.33::

I’m running consistent 2.35 60’ times with Nitto Neo Gen 205/50/15 on some gsr blades… I have skunk2 coilover on tokico illuminas 5 way adj?? How do I get my 60’ down so I can run 15 flat?! HAHA
your 60ft time isnt bad for the tires you run… most guys are hitting 2.4s i’d try raising your launch rpm, and feather the throttle and clutch out of the hole. you can also lower your tire pressure to maybe 15-20psi… go around the water box, and just do a simple dry burnout to get the dirt off your tires…
my best results have been from launching at a higher rpm… our 4 cyl motors are dogs under 5500 rpm… and you dont want to have to pull through that before power kicks in.
if you can, go with a b16 tranny… it makes WORLD of a difference, you will enjoy your car much more, it will be quite a bit faster, while at the same time no need for additional tuning costs, and no problems with emissions.
tranny upgrades are perhaps the cheapest, most underestimated, but most guranteed way to gain big gains in acceleration,
Dunnoe if you can see, but my 60ft time was 2.324 as shown unclearly on the timeslip.
That 60ft was done with 17" wheels and cheap/rubbish tyres. I noticed that when I did a better burnout for a tad longer (going through 2nd gear for a tad) you’ll get WAY better traction. I launched @ 4,800RPM, feathered it lightly till the car starting rolling a bit then gas’d it all the way, there was a small chirp with the launch but it was a heaps good launch, it scored me the 15.5 and 2.324 60 footer. The 60 footer was also done with standard OEM suspension (very high!)
:tsk: I’ve ran 15.3s from my 4dr w/ the LS motor.
I’d expect better from a B20Z motor.
nah unfortunately not thaaat much better… maybe a few tenths at most. hp is about the same… and i believe power falls off faster on a b20z than a b18
