I stopped off at the weld shop and got this installed:
The welds are strong enough so that the plates don’t move if i grab them with my hand, but as you can see they do not go the perimeter of the plates. Was just wondering if maybe they need more weld, or the gaps between plates and pan walls should be addressed.
I did this to a used b17 oilpan i picked up a month or so ago. I also threaded a larger drain bolt in, since the current threads were chewed.
what does that do? i thought thatthe baffling plus the windage tray would be more than enough.
anyhow, although crappy, those welds should not come loose. i would be worried about the one on the top-left, but, if they didn’t come loose when you pulled them, they should not come loose while in the engine. they could stand to have another small bead on the outside edges of the plates, but it should be ok as is
