Bass is a little softer now..

So I installed my system awhile back and set the bass at 5 and it hits pretty hard (you can feel your back pound) and just recently it feels softer now… I would have to set the bass up to 10 now to get the same effect.

I’ve checked to see if one of the sub is disconnected but both works. Can someone tell me what’s the prob? Doesn’t sound right anymore.

Could it be that the battery is getting old so it’s not providing enough juice to the amp to power the subs? Thanks in advance for the help.

How did you check if the subs were both working?

If it was by seeing that they both move when the bass “hits”, it is no guarantee that they both are, if they share the same air space one could be working as a passive radiator, you will need to check them individually.

Remove them and test them one at a time.

Other things to try, check the amp ground, remove it, clean it and the contact area, and reconnect, try system.

Check your ground and power connections at the amp.
Check the power connection at the batt.
If you are using an AGU fuse, [big glass fuse… http://www.scosche.com/efx.aspx?CategoryID=57&ItemID=P10F4I ] replace the fuse, even if it looks good.

If replacing the fuse works, replace the fuse and fuse holder with an ANL fuse and holder… http://www.scosche.com/efx.aspx?CategoryID=57&ItemID=P100WFI  94

I unplugged one of the subs and tested them individually. Thanks for the response. I’ll try those other ways you have suggested this weekend.

subwoofers are like women…if you abuse them long enough, ehhh forget it.

it could be something as simple as the screws coming loose around the subs, make sure to tighten them down so that they are airtight. is your box ported or sealed? what kind of subs and amp are you running? check the rca input on back of deck, also…make sure you don’t don’t criss cross your Power wire and RCA cables, your suppose to run them on opposite sides.

Box is a bandpass box and yes the screws are all tight. I’m using a Fosgate amp to push the subs and the RCA’s are tight as a virgin’s vagina on prom night. All installation of cables is A-OK! I’ll just check out all the grounds when I get home… it’s probably loose somewhere are the subs might just be getting really old. Thanks guys!

i know for myself with any car/home audio equip it seems my ear get used to the sound. maybe try a sound level meter(whatever its called). or get your ears checked. im being serious. i remember when i got my home sub (400w 12") it would pound crazy loud now its just suficient. ehh
