battery light flickering

Hey guys, got my alternator replaced a while ago, and the battery light is flickering at random times while driving, it’ll turn off for a bit and then come back on again. When i’m in neutral or at a complete stop, the battery light will not come on, only when i’m reving in the low to mid range the battery light goes on. Stereo also goes off sometimes when the light is on. I’ve checked for a loose ground wire, but haven’t found any loose connection.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Check what voltage your alternator is putting out… it may be faulty if it was a Duralast/etc brand.

faulty alternator or you need a new battery

Check your belt tension as well. Could be slipping on the pulley.

Forgot to add, battery is fully charged and pretty new. Belts are all tightened.

And today, i found out that when i step on the brake pedal with the daylights switch off, the daylights come on.

Electrical problems… FML

remove the tail light bulbs. see if the DRLs still come on with the brakes applied.
do you know the specs of the alternator? may not be a high enough amperage rating. or, it may just be a cheap alternator that’s over rated.
clean the mating surfaces of the transmission to chassis ground, chassis to battery ground, and both battery terminals. use sandpaper. be sure the surfaces are clean and shiney. also, be sure that the alternator terminal is tight

sounds like a ground issue

Thanks my fellow vancouverite!

Will probably take it to a shop soon and have it looked at. Pretty annoying when that light goes on and off.
