well, i have an old trans. my clutch is whoever knows how many miles old, and i was wondering how important the transmission is when upgrading your powertrain.
i plan on constructing a built b18b, and preferably, would like to keep my current trans, and just upgrade the clutch… will i be losing a lot of power due to not upgrading? and can my transmission actually fall apart, and should i upgrading it? it has like 150,000 miles

Like anything mechanical it has moving parts that wear and fatigue so you may both loose power and reliability. This is especially true if you’re adding more power.

You can get it rebuilt or at the least inpected at a tranny shop. They’ll give you some good ideas on the condition of the tranny and whether or not it can survive what you’re planning to do with the engine.
