bent rim

Has anyone fixed a bent rim and was it as good as new?

Yes and yes. My brother sent a 2G GSX wheel to a local shop and it came back looking great. I need to send one of my Volks there.

I got in a car accident and the rim was bent and beat up bad, it came lookin’ better than new.

Thanks, I just wasn’t sure if it would look like new or even possible. Now I gotta go to the wheel shop.

o.k. this is gonna sound really dumb but it has worked on every rim i tried it on .get a bowling ball pin,and beat the dent back strait.why a bowling pin? b/c its solid enough to bend metal ,or aluminium but it has a strong protective coating on it so it wont scuff of your rim .i tried this on a painted 18’'rim that was dented so bad it blew out the tire.and i thought for sure the paint would start chipping off .but it worked perfect.the tire holds air now and i cant even tell were the dent was.

I might try that in 3 years because I have a 3 year waranty that covers pothole damage and curbage. Thanks for the idea though.

 or a rubber mallot. thats what shops do

i tried a rubber mallot and it wasnt solid enough to knock a bad dent out. the bowling pin method seemed to work better.

How much did that cost?

where the hell do you get a bowling pin? lol

First off, I wouldn’t trust myself to be to repair a bent wheel correctly. They have machines to do that.

I guess it is OK for some lip damage.

I don’t know about a bowling pin, but I’d be too afraid to try it anyway.
