So what’s a good CD out there that I can buy that has gangloads of bass? When I say gangloads, I mean, not a lot of bass but the best sounding CD? Basically, what music do you put into your deck so you can “fine tune” your system? I’m curious as to what you audiophiles do…
I use IASCA cd’s…they are kinda like bass cds, but they have highs too. HTH
I use IASCA CD’s as well for achieving optimum sound for competitions, to give me the flat curve I am looking for in SQ. If you are not planning to compete, and are looking for the best sound in YOUR own car, use the music that you listen to. There is no need to use some elaborate testing CD, when it’s going to be YOUR ears and YOUR cds that will be listening and playing the music.
This is my opinion of course…so to get back to your original question, if you like:
Rock music:
Eagles–>“Hotel California” from Hell Freezes over (awesome Kettle drum with a good balance of mids and highs that will rattle your lungs and test your overall system)
Sheryl Crow–>Most of her recordings have a very good solid kick drum that is well balanced with her bass guitar and vocals.
Rap Music:
Damn near everything has a LOT of bass to it. Personal faves for me are Sir Mix-A-Lot, Too Short, Big Tymers. They all use an 808 machine to reproduce some crazy notes.
Country:
Shania Twain–> Say what you want, but her husband/producer Mutt Lange knows how to put catchy beats in her music (he has, after all, produced Bon Jovi, Def Leppard). “Any Man of Mine” from “The Woman in Me”
Jazz (new age):
Harry Connick Jr–>Anything off of the “She” album. Recorded with great clarity and pitch, with true upright bass guitars and hearty kick drums to match.
Techno:
Prodigy–> “Smack my b@tch up” off of ‘Fat of the Land’. Not the best title to a song, but very deep notes with plenty of midbass in there as well. Other tracks on the CD have plenty of bump as well.

THX—>“Jurassic Lunch” You can find this on Kazaa, it’s a fun short clip…play it with a subwoofer and LOUD…it’ll scare the piss outta you.
As you can tell, I like a lot of different types of music, but when you have a good system, you can truly enjoy the different types.

Sublime does good for me
Bass Mekanic (sp?) and a bunch of the old skool Dj Magic Mike cd’s and Techmaster PEB. Bass Mekanic is pretty cool cause the last tracks are freq. from 15 to like 100 and sine sweep and pink noise.

when tuning i play the music i usually listen to and go through an iasca cd. i pick the widest range, from rap to rnb to trance or alternative.
to test the subs capability i use test cds. just go to kazaa and search for IASCA, USAC, DB DRAG, BASS MEKANIK, etc.
