i have to get my timing belt changed so im just saying what the hay and looking to get some bigger and better engine parts. Can you guys tell me what is the best head to put in our lil’ gen2’s ans the best throttle body to accompany it? Also, are there any really good mods i should do while they’re down there? thanks
Not a mod, but make sure you have them change the water pump while they are in there.
Along with John’s recommendation, you should also have the timing belt tensioner replaced. If you have never replaced the thermostat, while the coolant is drained is a great opportunity to replace an inexpensive part ($25 for a new one).
As far as heads go…I’m not a big believer in “Bolt on” head packages for “X” amount of horsepower. If you have time and money, send your head off to Portflow. They do some great work. Check them out at http://www.portflow.com.
As far as throttle bodies go, you can’t beat RC Engineering’s work. They do some amazing things to a stock TB, for about $250 shipped. Here’s a picture of my old LS TB. Sorry for the poor quality…this was pre-digital camera…

ive heard with bored out stock TBs that you have to be careful how tight you put on your intake our else SNAP and there goes your TB. a friend told me that but i never heard of any stories like that but he does have a point.
