been lookin at a few, was wonderin what ones you guys would recommend for the g2… good ones for 100-150 bucks range. are dual ones any good?
depends on what your looking for in a deck… im sure you want MP3…
in my opinion if you want durability get a JVC… sound quality isnt as great as some others… but i dont notice that much of a diffrence
if you want to buy online… there some really nice clarions on ebay that kick ass (other than no mp3 support)
list what your looking for in one and we can help more with model numbers…
btw your in the assistance forum… not what to buy forum
dual sucks nuts, don’t touch it
Go to crutchfield.com, it will answer your questions
I’d go with a panasonic for 129.99
panasonic blows on the cheaper models… when i bought my car the dude who owned it b4 me went and bought a $300 deck and put it in like 2 weeks b4 (he showed reciepts)
it never did work worth a shit on cds… one day i was at circuit city when the panasonic rep was there… he said average is 1 out of 5 at the time of that model had defective lasers… to call the phone number… i called… they wouldnt fix it… needless to say its sitting in a box accross from me because its worthless to try to use… the faceplace volume and track down buttons dont work… and if you press up on the volume the right way the whole thing blanks out
Get a Pioneer. I paid 180$ for a Pioneer deck off the internet that Ive seen them charge over 300$ for here in town. I got a DEH-7600 and trust me, you will never need more options that what that deck has unless your are a serious audio freak.
Get the Apline CDE-9843 for $149. Alplines are a little more pricey, but you know they are good shit. Hell they come stock in Farraris and I think they came stock in the NSX before. I love mine, great quality sound.
for sheer power and sound quality… Alpine.
For a funky screen with almost as good quality… pioneer premier series.
mp3s will not sound as good as cds… so it also depends if you want to sacrifice some SQ for the number of songs you can mix on a cd.
however… in an average car… sq isnt going to be studio quality anyway so … well yanno.
ive used alpine and pioneer and sony… sony sucks… alpine is the best sound and power… pioneer is close… but also has the cool screensavers. im using a pioneer premier now and im happy with it.
sorry about the mis placement. yeah i’m lookin for a good mp3/cd/possible wma, seen them for about 120-130ish, just lookin for good sound for the buck ya know, for now. alpine and pioneer are the top… is clarion good? i’ve checked out crutchfield.com they got some pretty good ones. i also need to get some new speakers for the car.
It all really depends on what you want to spend. Yeah, Alpine is nicer than Pioneer but for the price I think Pioneer is a much better deal for what you get. If money isnt much of a issue I would go Alpine all the way but for what your looking to spend I wouldnt waste it on a Alpine. 150$ will get you alot further with a Pioneer deck than it would a Alpine.
BMW uses Alpine products as well, like the CD changer for example.
alpine, no other
my jvc sh99’s computer chip got messed up, and a dealer said it was common among jvc’s. awesome deck, but oh well.
can’t go wrong with alpine or pioneer. then clarion. then kenwood/panasonic/jvc/sony last.
Alpine for cd decks and you will not regret it.
High-pass/low-pass filters, subwoofer phase selector, 3 sets of pre-amps, 4 volt out, many more features (mp3/wma) that it’s too long to list.
You cant get better than that for around $300. Do not cheap out on a headunit, trust me. I install systems for people and when they say they want a nice “pretty” display to look nice i say that’s not the point. The point is the quality and sound, Alpine is the best.
If you are willing to sacrifice quality for something cheap then i would suggest a Kenwood or a Pioneer unit. They come with a lot of features and are better quality than panasonic, sony (do not get a sony unit), jvc (definite no no).
This is my opinion and take it as you wish, i always recommend Alpine and my second choice for people on a budget is Kenwood.
In my experience Sony was the worst. I had a $300 Panasonic take a shit on me, my Kenwood and JVC decks were decent… but the best I would have to say is my current deck, Alpine
Have you ever owned a Pioneer??? I would in no way call Pioneer cheap or of lesser quality than Alpine. Pioneer makes just as good of quality of H.U. as Alpine does. Being a installer I have seen alot more lower end Alpines crap out than I have Pioneers. I still think for the money Pioneer is a better value.
alpines used to be good…when they were made in japan (they are made in korea now). go find a good one on ebay, or get a high end new one (LCD/DSP/EQ processor).
my old school alpine (pull out OLD) sounds better than the new one in my pops car.
some of the higher end kenwoods are decent (the ones with 5v pre outs): my friend won a big SQ competition with one of those.
i have a higher end pioneer. it LOOKs nice, it has so many menus it toook a while to figure it out. id rate SQ 6 or 7/10 tho. the black fluorescent screen went haywire on mine so im basically navigating it blind (common issue with fancy pioneer screens).
if i could do it all over again, i wouldnt care how the thing looks. i just want an in-dash cd player that resists skipping and will take even scratched cds. id prolly get a kenwood heh
I have a Pioneer DEH-7700MP (mp3 player) and its a great deck. No complaints whatsoever. It was 240 when it came out a few years ago. Very good quality especially for the price. It was also the nicest looking in that price range.
pioneer or alpine
I meant the “budget” pioneer head units. And i have owned plenty of pioneers in the past but when Alpine came out with their Bass Engine Plus/Pro i was hooked. I always recommend Alpine first and then go from there.
well i got my stereo… the panasonic cq-c1301u, bought it from cardomain.com cause it was like 15 bucks cheaper than crutchfield and came with more lil tools. works pretty good for how cheap it is, basic and simple, just like i wanted.
