best place to buy crate motor?

Anyone order a crate motor in the past and had a good price/good motor come out of it? If so, please lend me some insight. I’ve looked around a bit, but I am looking for a cheap vendor that will ship to my house so I can swap it myself.

I’m trying to decide right now between the jdm b16 (obviously) or if I want to attempt the build on a jdm b18b turbo. Money isn’t too much of an issue, I just don’t want to spend 3k on a motor that I can get for 1500.

Also, insight on the ease of installing either of would be very helpful as well!

Please don’t buy a Spoon crate engine. Please.

Because anybody that knows anything about Hondas will make fun of you.

^^Agreed.

Or if money isn’t an issue, I’d go with the BEAST from DART.

all version is the best place

It really depends on what motor setup your going with. JDM B16? or JDM B18b Turbo? After that, then decide on where you want to purchase. Some places offer JDM motors better than others.

Thanks for info guys, I think I’ll order a b16 from dart.

If I order that b16 long block for 899, can I use my b18a tranny with easily? Or will I need to buy a b16 cable.

And what ECU do I need to make it run?

Anything else I would need for install?

yea, iunno what i was thinking…

just locate some jdm parts importers, and get an ITR swap

Still doesn’t answer my question digital. Is it because you can get the parts & build it yourself cheaper? What’s the deal? Inquiring minds want to know.

Nevermind. I just found the answer.

To all others wondering, it’s because Spoon crate motors are Honda engines that Spoon throws their parts in. (Unlike Dart, who builds everything from the ground up.) So basically, you’d be throwin’ $6500+ away when you could buy a used JDM motor & rebuild it yourself for way cheaper. Right Digital?
