Best ride feel for suspension?

the struts on my 92 gs bottom out SUPER easy and it just sucks to hit any kind of bump. the guy i bought it from said it was lowered on springs “the right way” but he probably got some crap springs. anyway, question is what is the best springs/struts for ride feel as a daily driver but still get a little drop on her? i wanna keep it within $300-$400. suggestions? thanks!

For that price range… stock.

Are you sure the struts are “bottoming out”? (as opposed to just having a very harsh ride)

If you want something close to stock, H&R Springs and KYB GR-2 shocks for front and rear run about $460 total at Tire Rack, w. free shipping. I looked into using those a few months ago, and they have about 1 or 2" drop (depending on which version you get) compared to stock.

So, if you are budgeting about a hundred less, then you may want to consider used OE struts from salvage. New OE struts were > $700 shipped, a year ago.

If you feel the struts bottoming out, some of the bushings may be shot by now too, so I would inspect those really carefully b/f making your budget for suspension parts.

okay. so if i do have more money what would be a good coil over kit that’s not quite as expensive as the skunk 2’s?

which skunk 2’s? there’s the fully adjustable which i want to say are the pro c’s and the there’s the pro s 2’s. both have different prices also. but if you have about 700 you can probably get something pretty decent for streetability and comfort(subjective to the person driving and passengers haha) but there’s all kinds of routes one can go with suspension. if you just want lowness you can get skunk 2 sport shocks which are stiffer than stock i hear and their coilover sleeves for like 450 to 500(people say the love em alot say they hate them. so it’s 50/50).

You can also get tokico illumina’s with i believe have 5 way adjustability paired with some sort of coilover/lowering springs. or you can go what i call the infamous route because 9.99 times out of 10 someone will suggest that you get koni sports/yellows with the koni specific ground control sleeves and custom rates. but thats another price range it’s worth saving for IMHO because it’s the whole tried and tested fact. let’s be realistic for a second though, what do you plan to do with your car driving wise? track/auto-x? if not, i think its not the best route due to the fact your going to be shelling out atleast 850 to 900 dollars on it which in turn for what you get(lifetime warranty and can be rebuilt to race specs), is a great price. but if your not going to utilize the suspension you pay for, simply don’t pay for it.

iv’e researched this suspension stuff so many times and i still have stock suspension because i don’t know if im ever going to need it.l i want it but being 17 years old, my budget conflicts greatly with what suspension setup i want lol. so really what i want you to do is consider what you want to use the car( not that it has to be a dedicated “auto-x-er” to buy the koni/gc setup) for and suggestions/discussion might be a bit more helpful if your less vague about the cars uses. i’m trying to learn from these older guy’s haha

btw, how much drop are you looking for?

Yes to koni/gc. I have it on both my integras. Its the best set up you can possibly get and is good for any driving type to include dd or racing.

you heard it here, koni/gc combo man

Still rocking my Ground-controls + Koni yellow setup from 2000!
