Looking to buy a manual that is well written and organized with plently of diagrams to help explain how to repair and mantain our Integras. Please share your opinions.
Helms. www.helminc.com
that is THE factory service manual. doesn’t get much more detailed than helms
i use Haynes…but Helms is a good way to go.
Buy both!
I have the Haynes and Helms. The Helms is the actual factory repair manual. VERY DETAILED. I am “ashamed” to say that I have actually “read” it three times (cover to cover) while extremely bored at work. The Helms has lots of diagrams… good stuff. Cost is ~$60.
The Haynes manual is definitely not as detailed (not even close… the Helms is ~ 3 times the thickness). The Haynes is full of PICTURES not much in the way of diagrams. Often times I find myself looking at a diagram in the Helms thinking “WTF?!?” then cross reference the Haynes for a real picture. Cost is like $12 from Autozone.
With as much money as you will spend playing with this car… $72 is chump change for the instructions.
Thanks for the good advice! I will go out and get both.
chilton sucs…def dont get one…for vigors , legends and integras within a 6 yr span…junkk!!
seen haynes looks way better…just integras and vigors i think for 3 yrs
would like to see the helms!
If you want to get an idea of what a helms manual looks like goto http://www.acuraparts247.com and look up your car. The “exploded view” is a lot like some of the pictures in the helms manual.
I do NOT endorse the below information:
You can also get them on CD from Ebay, though I am pretty sure those are pirated copies.
dishonest people use the internet all the time to share manuals. Ebay sellers are just trying to make a few bucks off of someone elses pirated copy. I try and avoid ebay scammers like that.
Sumin out of the blue, wow white90 you are very helpfull i see your ass everywhere…
ok anywho lol i went to the helms site for a 91 integra and they said they dotn have it anymore? can some1 tell me why? and i have a chiltons not good if you ask me. haynes is much more simple but i wanna get a helms. any1 kno another site i can get a helms ? 91 integra gs
they may not offer a printed copy anymore. You can ‘obtain’ a digital copy and take it to kinkos and have them make it into a book for you.
o yea huh fergot about the cd copy. thanks white90 will do that. itz juss having a real book is much nicer with all those dirty fingerprint marks lol. i guess ill juss stick with haynes.
I have the CD version. I will do my prep work on the computer, find what pages I need, and then print them out. That way I don’t get grease etc on my helms manual. (I have had a helms manual for every car I have owned that they make one for. I always hated taking the thing out to the garage, I was afraid I would get it dirty.)
If the printed pages are not too dirty, I save them in a binder, if they are too dirty, I just throw them in the recycle bin.
yup, pretty much what I do. I only print the pages that I need. For the most part I just write down torque sequence+specs and what not on a piece of paper, just bring it out. But it helps to browse the manual before you start a project.
i got one from Helm Inc a couple months ago, but they had to print it for me because they didnt have any. came in 2 volumes
Do you folks know of another source for this manual? I want to see if I can get it cheaper: http://www.amazon.com/Haynes-Repair-Manual-1990-Integra/dp/B000JRAYOQ/sr=1-1/qid=1170205018/ref=sr_1_1/102-7603890-2724930?ie=UTF8&s=automotive
And I think I’ve got the other one handled thanks to everyone elses’ eBay tips. I don’t want to pay pirates, but I need to do what I need to do to get my hands on one of those factory manuals. It’s cheaper than the Haynes, too…
The helms manual will be all you need. If your getting it, the Haynes manual will be set aside. I have both, and my Haynes manual is sitting in my garage somewhere collecting dust.
I like the fact that it comes in 2 books, but until you get familiar with where things are, it can be kind of frustrating. You really don’t need any other book but the Helms, however what it doesn’t have are step-by-step instructions on things, which can be useful if you’ve never done a particular type of job. Having both won’t hurt, but the Helms is a must IMO.
