i have an ebay short shifter and i want a better quality with hopefully shorter throw i was lookin at skunk 2 or b&m anybody have experience with them?
Everyone will have there own opinion on these brands. Skunk2, B&M, TWM and DC ect. I went through this road of urs a couple of weeks ago and ended up buying the duel bend Skunk2 and im happy with it. For the other(s) I do not know. How much u wanna spend, how short of a shifter do u want(height), how short of a shift do u want(throws) and single bend or duel bend? Search?
hows the dual bend feel compared to a regular short shifter
single bend sk2 for me, and it works fine.
I replaced the bushings at the same time. But it feels better. Just makes the da a little more fun to drive.
I had an Ebay short shifter and thought it was the shit. Until one day my uncle went to move my car and is snaped on him. So i decided to go with Skunk2 dual bend and what a diffrence. Its so much shorter and feels much better. Also i did all the ES bushings and fixed my shifter slop. But +1 on Skunk2 db.
i have a B&M and i like it, probably wanting to switch up here in a few and throw some bushing and i should be happy…
If you want something really fun to shift go with the fidanza single bend. its super cheap awesome quality an its just like shifting a porsche, it feels like millimeters between shifts.
i did the diy short shifter in teg tips and am pretty happy. from pics i’ve seen it seems to have the shortest throws around(the center of the bottom where it connects to the shift linkage to the center of the pivot ball is right around 2 inches) the heighth above the ball is also two inches shorter(cuz i used that two inches to add to the bottom) so it feels even shorter.
plus you can go to a junk yard and get another to make for probly 10 bucks if your unhappy or want to switch it up.
I’ve always used B&M pros - a little steep in price, but they replace some worn out pieces. I’ve never gone with a bend, simply because I’m short and already sit way close. The B&M pro shifts solid EVERY time. Keep your receipt, they’re warrantied for life. I have actually broken one. Best thing for me is I’ve always been able to order them through my local NAPAs so the one time I had to return it it wasn’t a problem.
do shifters from other cars sit lower or have shorter throws? like the gsr (db8) shifter?
in my opinion and experience the TWM duel bend out performs and looks way better than the B&M and skunk2 short shifter.
the B&M had a rattle nose that comes from the bearing(you have to use the stock bearing) because it doesnt fit tight enough.
the skunk2 duel bend short shifter is nice but look way too stock!!!
here’s a picture provided by TWM…it compares the twm dual bend to a stock 90-93 integra(also stock civic) and stock 94-01 integra shifter(dual bend)
…and here’s how the twm dual bend looks in my car…feels great. might i add, i had both dual bend skunk2 and dual bend B&M short shifter before in my previous car. TWM is the best by far.
hope this helps everyone out!!!
Wat do you mean by looks too stock? I have the dual bend SK2 and its so low that My shift boot and stock shifter have no space betweent each other. The shift boots hole is hittinf the bend on theshifter and wont go any lower. It is really low. Ill post pics tonite.
TWM does make different heighted shifters thus the shorter throw. i think like 3 different sizes. But i find the shortest to be ood lookin in a da. and have read in reviews to be notchy. I cant clam that myself but if i had the chance i would try the shortest of the TWM next time i get a shifter. i would think the bottom part would be to long and hit the exhaust. Wat ever floats ur boat. if u have $120 to spend then u will be lookin at the TWM with the 3 different sizes(google TWM) or the skunk2. Wat ever FLOATS UR BOAT.
NEED I SAW THAT UR TRANNY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHIFT ANY FASTER WITH OR WITH OUT THE SHORT SHIFTER at regular driving it will feel shorter but when someone shuves into gears all shifters shift at the rate of the tranny. So if u think u can just shift faster with a short shifter its not really true. GET IT?
I suck at explaining/writing…

i get it…that’s why i got the dual bend…it looks the best. im more into looks with this car other than function. i don’t race it, i don’t shift fast, but i love the way it feels.
also…while u’re installing a short shifter…swap out the shift linkage bushing as well…it makes the world of a difference in my opinion!!!

So the DC-2 stock shifter is a dual bend? it looks like its a little longer on the bottom, so its a little shorter of a shift. Direct fit right???
And short shifters arent always shorter up top. sometimes they are longer to help with the whole positive feel they address. more leverage up top and down below. People think they have to cut their shifter up top along with the short shifter mod, but that only reduces leverage and allows more grinds. But If you only care about looks and slow driving feel then cut away

yeah…the 3rd gen integras are all dual bend but they won’t fit the DA due to the fact that the base of the shift lever is wider by about 8mm-10mm and won’t fit in the DA shift linkage…but you can swap the DC shift linkage to make it fit…but after all that…u might as well just get the B&M duel bend.
true true. thanks alot, that helps
