Best Way to pull my block...

Okay, I’m about to do the LS/VTEC soon as I get the Distributor and a B16a1 Intake Manifold (Yes… these are hard to find… If u have one sell it to me)

I was wondering… If I use the old tranny, What’s the best way to pull the block out to take to the machine shop (11.5:1 comp JE pistons and Eagle rods going in so I’m taking it to a machine shop to make sure it’s done right… File-fit rings. :shy: )
ANYhoo… It doesn’t look like the engine will pull out through the top of the hood with the tranny attached, but It might… I dunno.
And then if I gotta pull it through the bottom I’ll hafta raise it sky high on like 4 cinder blocks everywhere, so is there a way to separate tranny from engine and just pull the engine side out?
Also, I may make it easier if I take the head, manifolds, etc. off before I stick the cherry picker in to play, no?

ANY and I stress: ANY comments/ suggestions are appreciated.

You could remove the whole engine through the top of the car by removing your hood…

this is a question i have as well, could somebody please give some tips

If you get all of the mounts off of the engine and modify your hood so you can stand it up straight or take it off, then you remove the radiator and the battery tray you should be able to tip the drivers side up and the passenger side down and then rotate the engine so it goes from corner to corner and it will come right out. I have even done this with the hood not all the way vertical which isn’t recommended b/c when i was aligning the mounts the engine jerked the car which caused the prop rod to pop and the hood fell on the hoist. so now I have a nice dent from the inside out.

Well folks, someone decided to resurrect this dead post… since then I have pulled the engine out… All I did was take everything apart, I went ahead and took the head off because it’s easy to do with it still in the car… And I hooked it up to the cherry picker and out she came… no muss, no fuss.
