Betteries...

so im thinking im going to replace my battery, is it bad to use like a big badass battery like optima? or would it be fine? please excuse my ignorance lol

Doesn’t matter what battery you choose as long as it has enough cranking amps. Honda engines require only around 450 amps. Reserve capacity would play a bigger role depending on if you run things with the engine off. Like sitting with the radio on. BTW Optimas are not all that great. Had one and it only lasted me 1 1/2 years. I work at Sears and we had always warrantied them out for going bad within 3 years. We actually stopped carrying them about a year ago. If you need just a solid starting battery, Interstate and the Die Hard Gold are your best battery. (Made by same company.)

i thought they were supposed to be darn good, but i too, have been through TWO optimas in the past two years…i dont know why. they are supposed to have a longer shelf-life as well…
guess i’m going to a cheap-o walmart one, or, step up to an odysee or something along those lines.

well what kind of battery would be good for cranking in like -15 degree weather, and that can run my stereo also, i have a 300 watt amp, and no cap, so i thought the optima yellow top would be good, but now im not thinking so

Try getting a Die Hard Platinum. They came out about 2 years ago and replaced the Optimas in our stores. I got one when my Optima took the dive. (Yellow Top). 100 months total warranty, but the first 4 years is a free replacement warranty. Better than the Optima’s 1 year for a Yellow Top. Plus these are completely sealed AGM type batteries. About the same price as an Optima too. $180 plus taxes. Specs are 740CCA, 100 min RC. So this should be your best bet. Warranty is what really sets this battery apart.

alright awesome man, i will look into that

i had an exide (kragens dry cell) and it lasted a while, about a year of off roading, covered in mud, dirt, water. ran a 4800watt peak sub set up, clarion deck and polk momo components with amp. and like, 8 spot lights. started up every time, but i sold the truck to a buddy, he had no problems untill he broke it and junked it.
