big brakes upgrade help

ok so i did the legend front brakes on my da thanks guys for all the help they work great and look awsome inside my 15 inch momo wheels. now i would like to do some thing with the rear would like to keep the ebrake so can someone tell me what i need to get would like to know what year and car the parts are from i see on here some thing about a ep3/rsx what the hell is a ep3 so if someone can tell me exakly what i need to get thanks

ep3 is a chassis code. thats been discussed on here. just search a little more.

Err, I believe EP3 is the chassis code for the 02-05 Civic Si in the States or Civic Type-R in Japan/the UK, while the RSX uses the DC5 chassis code.

^^^^^you are correct, long days and late night are starting to get to me…

if you have a chance post of pic on how your momo rims look like with the calipers

here is a truly definitive parts list you will need to do the rsx/ep3 rear brake upgrade- skip the numerous threads of crap and redundancy. Straight to the point!

  1. rear rotors from 2002-2003 civic si (chassis code:ep3 - 4lug)
  2. rear calipers from any year rsx (need to mount the left caliper on the right side and vice versa) Note: bleeding the brakes with the calipers on is gonna be a pain!
    OR
rear calipers from 98-01 integra type-R (bolts on like stock!!) Note: they’re really not that cheap and if you decide to go this route, make sure the caliper you’re getting is actually one from a type-r, as the cast stamp is the same for the rsx (14something vs stock DA is 13something). The difference is how the e-brake lever on the caliper is positioned. (learned this the hard way!!) Note2: 96-97 type-r caliper bracket does not bolt on for some odd reason (also learned this the hard way, smh lol)
  3. brake pads for the application of the caliper (should be the same either way iirc)
  4. can use the stock brake lines from the DA (direct bolt-on)

also another oem alternative aside from what i stated above

  1. rear rotors from 2002-2003 civic si (chassis code:ep3 - 4lug rotors whereas after 2003, it is 5lug)
  2. rear caliper brackets from a 2002-2005 civic si or any year from a rsx
  3. use stock DA calipers
  4. rear brake pads for 2002-2005 civic si or rsx (again should be the same iirc)

hope this helps you out and save you some time from searching!

I’m personally running the 98-01 type-r rears and it’s literally a bolt-on affair!

Good Luck!

Im currently running the second option you mentioned, with the stock DA calipers… It works fine, but i do plan on getting the rsx calipers later

so if i use rsx or typ r what brackets do i use thanks for the help guys ill post pics of front when i figure out how to i have apic stuck in the pic thing now i caint down load any more pics

if you decide to use either the rsx or type-r calipers, you would use the brackets that comes with them; they are a direct-bolt on. Remember for the type-r, you can only use 98-01 caliper brackets as the 96-97 brackets will not bolt on, and as for the rsx calipers, the bracket should bolt on as well regardless on what year.

how much bigger is the civic rotor

no more spoon feeding answers, you’re gonna have to search for yourself. I just provided you the “ingredients”, now it’s time for you to take the initiative to search further in depth. It’s obviously out there, just google search it and you’ll find it, I PROMISE, that’s how I gathered all this info in the past. Good luck!

Agreed… lol. There is a crap load of info out there

honestly i dont think rear break upgrade is really need it, if your car is not a full time track car. front are most important.

well i think rear and front work together when i raced go karts in the 80 s it made a big diff so i would think it would effect the cars the same it needs to be a balence right now the front is much stronger than the rear
