black bumper lights

What kind of paint is there to paint my bumper lights black? LMK if you know where to find some.

unless you can find a transparent black some where, your best bet is to tints them, which you can find at your local arts and crafts store

good idea, but transparent black is pimp.

Yes, transparent black IS pimp, but transparent aluminum is the future.
(poor attempt at a joke)

hahah star trek! lol

Awhile ago they used to make this spray tint for taillights. I cant recall what its called but you could try that. Most likely it will run your $4-6 a can.

It’s called Night Shades spray tint…

RC car spray tint works, as well.

Interesting…and yes that was a pretty lame joke :iagree: lol

At least I admit my jokes are poor

Back on topic. I know there is some amber paint some here have used to paint clear lenses with to get that “JDM look”…

It would not surprise me if there was a tint version of that paint. Then you could sand and clearcoat them to make it tougher for the tinting to be chipped off. Just an idea, not even sure if the stuff exists though.

yea that paint is Tamiya clear colors, im sure they make a black.

btw the previously mentioned spray was called VHT NiteShades

What white mentioned sounds like it would laster longer than using something for spray on tint, or using roll tint designed for the inside of your car.

since you guys are talking about tinting it black…what do u used to to make then bumper amber?? and what r the steps?

When I tinted mine I sprayed the inside of the lense and it has held up great.

i have a 92 teg lights…i dont think they can be open like the 90-91 or maybe im wrong…

I tinted my taillights with the VHT Niteshades. But I had to get it off ebay. It’s like 7 bucks. FYI, if you’re going to spray tint anything, please please please please…PLEASE take the time to prep it the right way. No offense to the guy who wrote the teg tip article here at g2ic but there is a helluva lot more than just a little bit of cleaning and light sanding. i pretty much followed what this dude did for his corrado. With the exception of getting mine professionally clear coated. I didn’t have much luck with the spray clear coat…i’ve done my lights 3 times, and they’re still not perfect, but i’m happy for now, until i redo them better. i’m going to do the bumper lights and possibly the headlights too…i was going to do it to this set of jdm 1pcs’ my friend had for 50 bucks, too late now though their gone. anyways, here’s the link to the tinting procedures For Sale corrado-club.ca
I wouldn’t suggest spray clear coat. if anything, once you get the coats that you need, hit it with like 1500 or 2000 wet and then buff it with polishing compound, it will come out waaaaayyy better than spray clear. here’s a pic of my taillights…

i used tint vinyl. it turned out pretty good.

Caboose: Now that looks very clean. Nicely done! It really compliments the car.

I doubt I will ever do this, I don’t think it would look good on a white DB1. Black however looks quite nice!

yeah you can still see the light in the daytime as well so it doesn’t block that out too much.

For reference, what % tint did you use?

i think it was 35%
