Black crap under Sunroof visor?

I finally removed my sunroof visor/bugshield thing, all went well, except for the fact that now under where the black soft part of the front of the shield(that touched the paint), there is a black line of residue that is stuck reallllly well onto the paint. I’ve tried letting WD-40 soak on there and scrubbing it off but its realllly on there good. I’m thinking of buying a heavy duty degreaser or something from an auto store, and power washing it.

Anyone have any ideas of products or methods I can use to get this stuff off?

theres stuff in a small black can kinda thing, its almost like gooo gone but its safe for car paints. i think its ment to remove bugs and crap but it works for precticaly everything else too.

is it goo-ey black stuff or is it almost flat into the paint? I’d use some polish (3M finish restorer) or something like that.

I even tried some 3M adhesive/bug/tar remover today (I was taking off my Integra sticker  ) and it helped a little more but there is still some deeper black marks that look like they are in the paint…

in the paint, pull out the polish…

do your whole car while your at it - you’ll be happy you did, then wax

Polishes I’ve used:

3M Finish Restorer (works like magic)
3M Scratch Remover (works like magic)
Meguire’s Body Scrub
Meguire’s step 1 (of their 3 step thing)

Wax:

I use Zymol (12.99 at WalMart)

i you want, $30-40 electric buffer from walmart too

I used some rubbing compound on the black stuff when i took mine off, there was still scratches there from it being on all those years. :frowning:

Yeah I have some scratches but most of the black stuff is gone. Now you can just see a line of red where the edge of the rubber part sat, but that’s nothing some wax/polish won’t cover up. I also took the day and spray painted the metal corners around my windshield with some black/clear coat, because the paint was peeling off. Also, I sprayed the DOHC’s on my trim white w 2 layers of clear coat and it looks CLEAN AS FAWK :stuck_out_tongue:
