Blasphemy... Cannibalizing a db1...

Hello 2 all :werd: :dozing:

Im a long time lurker around here. Not much of a poster. I Just wanted to speak up and say how much I appreciate this forum. Its one of a kind. The commitment to technical detail and accurate information is impressive. So Is the the sense of community and the lack of b.s. and flaming.

I fell in love with my first da9. Brought it back from ricer death and got it back to stock. Got a deal too good to pass up and traded it off. Been hating myself for it ever since. Six months went by and I managed to find a good deal on another. Its a 91 db1. But its only got a 120k on the stock ls with a gsr ys1 and exedy stage one clutch. It runs fantastic after a little love. Only problem is that its in real rough shape cosmeticly. Too bad for me to afford to fix. Wich makes me sad cause sedans are so damn good looking. :(

So enter a clean 91 civic hatch shell. Crank windows, No sunroof, factory manual steering rack. No a/c. :) Everything from the db1 is getting swapped into it. Engine/trans/ecu. Brakes on all four corners. Booster and master. Right down to the rear sway bar. I'm bummed to tear apart a db1, But I'm super stoked about an ls swapped standard hatch with integra brakes. I still cant help but feel a little guilty doing it though...

2nd Gen tegs are the best looking Honda car ever! Why would you do that? Is the body shape really that bad on the db1 to switch to a Civic?

I agree With that 100%!
88-91 civics take second to me…

wow another member from bremerton . good luck with the car project . and boost teh hell out of it . washington is great for boosted cars .

Boooooooooooo

You’ll hate it. Friend of mine did the same thing and it’s just not the same. Sure the civic is fast, but it always feels like it’s not quite right. Not to mention the interior is not even comparable to an integra.

are you going to boost the b18 on the civic?

yup, that was me that took the b18 and put it in an ef. The car was quick, fun to drive, but still nowhere near as nice as the da. Stick with the da, you’ll be happier in the long run I think

I have a friend who had his DB1 written off and bought a civic with gsr swap using the insurance money. Although his new car is pretty nice and fast, he still says he would trade his civic for another 2nd gen if he had the chance. Personally I wouldn’t give up my car for the world lol

i was gonna do that too just cause my ef was just clean, all it was missing was a motor swap my db1 is just a mess, the old owner was just a stupid fk never took cared of it so i was left with all the bs … too bad i sold the ef
