Hey guys sorry i know another blower motor problem is the last thing anyone wants to talk about again lol but i cant seem to find anything specific about the issue online but any help would be more than awesome .frealz
So i bought the car (93 ls with b20b swap) a few months back and has been sittin at my buddy’s while I slowly get it ready to be street legal here in VA .All I need now to pass and to drive her daily is to get the defroster/blower motor working . The guy I bought it from had included another working blower motor with the car and said that wire /pigtail plug that plugs into the blower motor from the harness just needed to be replaced that mine was fried (which it was }so i picked up one from a junk yard spliced it and it didn’t turn on.I then thought maybe it could be the fuse so i replaced the fuse (the big green 40a) still nothing . Then I bought a test meter and tested the original pigtail i spliced in the first place didn’t read/ hear anything from the meter and i also tested the pigtail/wire that plugs into the blower motor resister and didnt hear/read anything . I know these are wrapped together lol but that’s as far back as I’m knowledgeable of when it comes to wiring im sorta new to working on cars and never really dealt with any wiring or anything similar . so forgive me if its something simple (hoping to god it is)
What about replacing the blower motor resistor? If you remove the two screws from it, inspect the coils. They shouldn’t be burnt with no breaks on the coil.
thanks for the reply man ,sorry I gave up on anyone having any ideas bout this haha ,I’m probably going to just wire a toggle for now for the sticker but i think you might be right about the resister and its funny i read this now cuz i literally just thought of that last night and checked the coil but to be honest im not very experienced with this kind of electric work and couldn’t tell you exactly whether it was burnt or not it did seem really crisp and fragile, but it didnt look like there was any breaks in the coil however there was definitely a lot of water all over this thing like a puddle inside the resister but the only thing this ,even if i replace the resister the wire that supplys power to the blower motor is fried and theres a short somewhere this is my main problem so first i have to find out where it went bad but im pretty sure your right about the resister its done
Can you take a picture of the resistor or the wire? Also I don’t think the resistor is not that expensive from where I bought mine. That is if you buy it at Periora Arizona dealership. Parts are cheaper there than my local dealer. You might want to call and ask. Ask for Tim or Dennis lee. here is the number1-866-347-8355 or 1-866-347-4510
