blower removal, searched

im tryin to take out my blower motor to see if i need a new one cause my ac isnt working, the compressor kicks on, the blower just doesnt work

i’ve got the glove box out, and two screws from the motor itself take off

all i’ve found is threads saying there are three screws i gotta take out, and to take out the metal kick panel, nowhere does it say how to though

can anyone fill me in? its hot and i’d like some AC :hyper:

i’ve also found some ghetto rigged wiring, so i’ll probably have to go junkyard hopping to replace it, but i have no clue what wires are supposed to go where… i have a feeling they are at least wrong though, because when i turned the switch the wires got hot as hell

The third screw holding the blower in is kinda close to the firewall. As far as the metal kick panel there will be two bolts on each end (I believe they are 14mm, can’t remember).

they are 10mm bolts, but in order to get the kick panel out. you need to pull the the 2 lower interior panel and the center console(where the shifter sits)

once the kick panel is out you can kind of lay on the floor and see the 3rd bolt on the bottom.

I dont know this for a fact, but you might have to pull the a/c condensor box to get the blower motor out. (I did at least, but i dont have ac anymore so it wasnt a big deal for me:shrug:)

Good luck.

I remember replacing mine. It was a PITA. Sorry I didn’t take pics along the way. It was not fun though.

awsome, thanks for the info guys, headin out in a few to finish pulling it

well i got it out

theres some kind of coil on the inside of the blower assembly, thats broken, the wiring is hacked, and the motor is siezed

so time for a new one

it looks as though someone has replaced it before because there were only two bolts in the kick panel and i think one missing from the motor itself, i forgot though

i didnt have to take that black box out but it was a pain in the ass, had to force it out, caught some interior panels along the way but it came

will post pics of the wiring im talking about later

how long did you guys have to work lube into the motor to free it up?

i’ve been workin mine for a couple mins and it still sticks a bit, i read in one thread a couple people useing PB blaster to free em up so i figured $3 is better then $40 for a new motor if i can reuse mine

should i slap it in and see if it just needs to be run or is it probably gone since it still sticks a bit? i read its supposed to spin freely

how much you askin? im thinkin about just buying a new motor from the auto parts store since its only $40

and im very, very interested in keeping my AC lol, its HOT here

i decided to hook mine up and see how bad it is stuck, if i move it by hand when i have the switch turned on it’ll move, but i had smoke pouring out of the motor while it was running, so im assumeing its beyond repair… i’ll try tomorrow and spray some PB while its running as a last ditch effort before i buy a new motor though

tell you what ill let you have it for 35 with shiping;)

thanks for the offer, for $5 more though i’d rather have a brand new one

but a buddy of mine hooked me up with one for free, so i put it in tonight

now i have another problem

i cant get it to blow cold, im about 75% sure the compressor kicks on, although it seems like sometimes it doesnt, when i think it does the car bogs down just a little while idleing

could i just be low on freon or could there be a problem elsewhere?

and how can i check the level of freon in it?

you cant realy check the level of, but you can check if there is freon in the system.

find one of the schrader valve in a well ventaited area and just press in on it real quik. Mind you this is illegal and you need to hold your breath and vacate the area for a good 5-10 minutes afterwords

or

and this is what i recomend, most auto mechanics and oil change shops can check the presure and over all status of your a/c system and point your in the right direction.

Chances are if its not blowing cold air, you need to recharge the freo in the system. good to hear you got it up and running and dont trip, I would of shell out the extra $5 to get it done asap;)

check out my part out thread anyways, i might have something you need:up:

I’m about to swap out my blower motor cause it’s totally dead, and my a/c is cut and I’m not concerned with ever making it work again, and I’m just wondering if when I take out the motor if I will be dealing with a/c parts, and if so, if I can just take them out and leave them out?
